I don’t think partners should be near each other while shitting but you should be able to tell your partner you gotta take a shit. Grow up.

As someone with IBS who grew up miserable in a home where it was unthinkable to discuss bathroom issues, I gotta be with someone who is okay with me talking about that. I'm not spending the rest of my life trying to hide that I have bodily functions from the person I live with!

Ia. I just picked up a stomach flu while traveling with my partner, and discussing things like stool consistency and color was unavoidable for planning the rest of our trip. Not the funnest conversation to have but no big relationship issue either.

I got ibs too & you're right: this is our life, it revolves around this lifelong condition & you've got to be sure that your partner is gonna be in it for the long haul with you -- ibs & all. i let my current partner know early about my gastric issues & six years later, we're still strong & he's still very concerned about my triggers, etc. 💜

I agree with her here. I don’t mind an occasional “sorry my stomach hurts” or “I’m gona be a while” but don’t need more info than that.

In my family we said "There's going to be a delay." and we knew that meant the person was going to be in the bathroom for awhile.

mte, no one should be embarrassed but I dont wanna casually hear about your bowel movements for the vast majority of situations unless its a medical concern you want to talk about

Also if you need to fart, go excuse yourself away from me! Lmao accidents are different but if you knowingly fart in the same room as me BYE. Goes for friends, partners, Dev Patel, Dolly Parton, god himself, etc

I have Crohn’s disease and I feel this way so I would expect any partner less sick than me to be on the same page
