Hearing that audio recording of Susan with the journalist was WILD. She was totally feeling out what the best story would be to cover for Bob.

that was fucking insane! i can understand why the da thought it could turn the jury against her, playing that in court would've been very risky at best

She was clearly fishing for the best story to cape for him. She either really convinced herself that she was special and that he would never turn on her - or, she was that desperate for money and thought she could blackmail Bob for money in exchange for not telling? Like IDK did she think he wouldn't kill her?

It came across like it was his pattern to spread the wealth around in order to get people on his side, so I’m kind of surprised though that he didn’t just pay her off to keep her quiet

Unless he feared that she was having a crisis of conscience and really would go to the police, but in that case surely she would have just gone to the police station anyway without saying anything to Bob at all, so it seems far more likely to me that money was her main motivation. Possibly then she seriously miscalculated in how she approached him/threatened him?

Greed. His money. He’d have 0 support had he not had his wealth.

I can’t stand his one lawyer who helped him get acquitted of the murder of his neighbor in the early aughts. How do you get acquitted on the basis of self defense and “stand your ground” after intentionally dismembering him and throwing the pieces in the river to avoid police detection? An average person without Bob’s $$$ would still be rotting in prison right now (or previously executed by the state of Texas)

This was a fascinating episode. In general, I don't love psychoanalyzing somebody but damn they made a convincing argument about Susan. It helped to flesh out the reason for her loyalty. Like many a misguided woman with daddy issues, and I include myself in this, she romanticized her way into very bad decisions. Luckily none of my decisions were on this scale. I thought it was very interesting that they ultimately decided not to show it to the jury.

What is the point of the interviews with the twins working for the prosecution? I'm wondering if they will play a more significant role later on in the story of the trial or something. I don't understand why they're here otherwise.

I agree that 99% of the time, I don't like armchair psychology, especially on true crime shows where I prefer that they stick to the facts. But laying out all of that stuff about Susan's parents and then connecting it to her behavior with Bob really helped drive home her motivation, especially for people who have been trying to understand her being so loyal to him that she would help him cover up murdering his wife.

The twins are just there for color commentary, I don't think they will play an actual role in anything. They sifted through all the conversations in discovery, so having them recap is a (theoretically) more entertaining way to deliver that information.

Their ten second appearance in the previous episode was unexpectedly funny so I'm fine with them popping up once per episode!

The episode felt like a filler, and nothing new was shown until the very end.
I binge-watched the previous season, and I believe it would be better if all of the episodes were released at once.
