Hannibal had been watching his future brother-in-law over the course of the night, off and on. He could tell things were slightly off for him. And he was picking up all sorts of signals about the various things that were likely causing it. He liked the young man. And he was family, now. After he'd helped with the cleaning up, he went back outside, standing in the doorway for a long moment before heading over to Jake. He sat beside him, but left enough space not to be intruding too much. He didn't say anything yet. He just studied him quietly.

No, no. No. There was only one signal messing him up, and usually he was better at covering it up than usual, but, now that he was home? He let himself relax more. Probably not good, but, Cougar was always damn distracting. It was always an embarrassing thought, knowing what others thought about the topic in general, so he never spoke up about it. This time his eyes did all the betraying, giving him away.

He didn't miss a beat in typing as Hannibal sat down, glancing up for a millisecond. And he kept staring at the screen, though he felt Hannibal keep staring and--"Sup?" Jensen laughed, though there was no smile as he stopped his typing to look back at his soon-to-be brother-in-law.

Well. Hannibal was sure that the younger man still had some problems with him in particular, and obviously that, and Jensen's own situation, were contributing to his unhappy mood tonight. But there was one thing that had started to stand out.

He hesitated a moment, then just went on with it. Tact had never exactly been his strong suit. "Handsome man, that Cougar," he said softly.

Jensen snapped his head slightly to the side when that was the first thing out of Hannibal's mouth. What the hell? He thought, at first, and was almost positive that was the look that came out on his face. He looked down, typing in a few more codes, to collect himself, before looking back to Hannibal with brows furrowed and a hand over his mouth.

He gave a wave of his hand in confusion as he moved it from his mouth. "I really don't know what to say to that. That is the WEIRDEST thing I've heard you say. Like, ever." Though, if his pounding heart and worried look in his eyes meant anything, Jensen felt a bit panicked.
