Poll-esque thing

So I saw cloverfield the day it was released, I mean I had been waiting to see it for nearly 5 months just to see it, and it astonishes me that I hear a-lot of people don't like it. I just came to ask an opinion so I can better my understanding ( Read more... )

I didn't do any "research" and I maybe checked out the viral marketing once or twice, without any idea of what was going on since I hadn't followed it from the beginning, and I still loved the movie. I think Cloverfield is really about experiencing only what the characters themselves are experiencing, so no background is needed to appreciate it. I know some people are dissatisfied and feel they didn't get enough out of the movie (wanting to know more about the monster, wanting to know who was behind it, wanting to know if it was destroyed in the end and all) but if you ask me they missed the point.

yes exactly! To me, it's like they wanted to see this movie because they thought it would be a good monster movie. They totally missed the point. Thanks for your opinion!

I've followed this movie since July 4th. I've read every article, purchased some merch, kept up-to-date with my website... And I still thought the movie sucked my asshole.

It was decent, don't get me wrong. But it still sucked.

I thought the movie was amazing, but I don't care for the viral stuff as much now. I followed it all, but I felt that it added nothing at all to my experience of the movie itself.

A couple of my friends thought it was "the stupidest movie [they had] ever seen", though, because they wanted stronger diegesis than was on offer.

I didn't do any research and I thought it was a really good movie. I like movies that leave you with a lot of questions.

I think I would have liked it better if I hadn't been anticipating it for so long. I think it's important to be fully aware of the perspective of the movie before you go see it so that you can prepare yourself for not getting answers, but having it hyped for so long made me a little disappointed. And I have a hard time putting my finger on what it is exactly. I liked the movie. It didn't, however, blow me away and that's what I was expecting.
