Character History:
Sai's wiki page

Character Personality:

When he was first introduced, the most noticeable part of Sai's personality was that he appeared to have none. The result of ROOT training, Sai had forsaken emotions. it is assumed that this type of training made it easier for ROOT members to accomplish many dangerous or unethical missions that the organization took part in.
When asked as to why he didn't think up names for his drawings, he tells Sakura that he cannot, because even if he wanted to, nothing comes to mind. During that same conversation, he also tells Naruto that he has no opinion on him whatsoever, he feels nothing.

He is very submissive and loyal to his superiors, in particular Danzou. Although, later on he begins to question things instead of blindly following orders, such as asking what Danzou's intentions towards Naruto are and even defies an order at the request of Kakashi. In the beginning, his only concern was the mission ordered to him by Danzou and his teammates meant nothing to him- not even paying any attention to an unconscious Sakura falling from a broken bridge, even when Yamato called out to him to save her. Later on, however, he is shown to care for his teammates, Naruto in particular. Stepping in to stop Naruto from being beaten up further by the Cloud-nin and leaving his clone behind in the Land of Iron to tell Naruto the truth about Sakura and her intentions are some of the examples that show that he has begun to act as a member of Team Kakashi.
.
Although he has good observation skills, Sai has trouble understanding other peoples' bonds. When they first met, he constantly questioned Naruto's feelings for Sasuke, unable to understand why he wishes to save someone who had betrayed their village and tried to kill him. After spending time with Team Kakashi, not only does Sai begin to appreciate the relationships that people form with each other, but he begins to remember his own with Shin, the one person whom he had shared an important bond with. Rejecting his mission, the assassination of Uchiha Sasuke, in favor of helping his team was a big turning point for Sai, for he began to realize the importance of relationships, hoping he could learn more about them, in particular the one that Naruto shares with Sasuke.

Wanting to experience and form bonds of his own, when he is not painting Sai is often seen spending his free time reading books in order to help him interact with people better; yet due to his lack of social experience he is unable to tell the difference between what would be considered honest and what is rude. Combined with his apparent lack of comprehension in regards to personal space, Sai often makes people angry without understanding why. On one such time, he had read that giving people nicknames could help to improve a friendship. However, after calling Sakura "ugly" and being stopped from calling Chouji "fat ass" he realizes that the process is much harder than it seems.During this time with Team Kakashi, Sai has begun to develop a genuine, thoughtful personality and at times has exhibited genuine emotions such as happiness, nervousness and even recognized his own anger felt towards Sasuke. He has also begun to understand the relationships of others, telling Sakura that he recognized that Naruto loves her and he can see that Naruto has been experiencing sadness. Although he started out purely motivated by his missions and nothing else, being accepted as a member of Team Seven and helping his teammates, including their pursuit of Sasuke,  seems to have taken priority for Sai. Of course, after the death of Danzou and the assumed disbanding of ROOT, being a member of Team Seven probably became even more important to him as it remains as the only form of real identity he has left. (although it has not been mentioned in the plot, so we do not know for certain)

Once the war started Sai underwent more emotional development. He encountered his brother, Shin, who had been brought back under the Edo Tensei technique. Upon learning that his brothers body had been filled with clay. Sai demonstrated anger and rage, fiercely attacking Deidara and Sasori. Once his brother's soul had been freed and the technique dispelled, he is shown looking at his Picture Book; his most important possession, with tears running down his face.

Leaving his occupation as a ninja aside, Sai is an artist, claiming to have drawn thousands of pictures. It was through his art that he first bonded with Shin, who encouraged him. Although his lack of emotion rendered him incapable of naming any of his creations, the fact that he continued to draw in his free time could hint that not all of his personality had been eradicated.

Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
As a ninja, Sai has been shown to be fairly proficient in Taijutsu (Hand to hand combat). He was easily able to fend off Naruto, Restrain Kabuto and even broke Shin's neck upon their encounter. Considering he also carried around a Tanto (A short blade) it is assumed that he is skilled in using that also, although he will no longer have the weapon upon entering the city.

Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:
He has no physical weaknesses, his only weaknesses would be the social shortcomings explained above.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign?
He will keep his taijutsu skills, and of course his Artistic ability.

What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign? Bullet-form is fine.
He will not gain weaknesses as such, but of course will be losing all of his ninjutsu capabilities..

The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?

As a shinobi, Sai is a fighter. He is loyal and obedient, and whether on his own or part of a team, he would strive to complete any mission or task that his superior has given him. Because of this, Sai would fit in perfectly with the others in the city given the task of protecting it.

If your character has difficulty verbally communicating or can’t verbally communicate at all (mute or non-humanoid), elaborate on how this will be treated in the game.

[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]

Why is your character a Weapon and not a Meister?
Sai is a weapon because it fits his personality and upbringing perfectly. The relationship between meister and weapon may be equal but Sai was brought up to believe that he were nothing but a tool to be used by Danzou in whatever way he wished. Although he has undergone a lot of character development since, this still remains true in his beliefs. He would be much more comfortable with being a weapon than being the Meister of one.

What is your character’s Weapon Form? Why?
Take away the ninja, and you are left with an Artist. Therefore, Sai's weapon form will be a paintbrush.

What is your character’s Weapon Ability?
As a paintbrush, the user will obviously be able to use it in the same way that any normal paintbrush can be used. However, it will also grant the wielder access to Sai's unique ninjutsu- images drawn using the brush can be brought to life. As examples, Sai has mostly used this to create lions for attack, or birds for transport/sending messages, but he has also used it to create inanimate objects such as umbrellas.

will they be solid creations or just ink floating around?

they are solid creations.

- the images can only be brought to life through resonance?
Yes.

- are they controlled by the Meister?
they will be yes,

- is there a time limit on them?
sustaining damage will cause them to dispel. Aside from that, I imagine there will be a time limit to them- probably around five? (10?) minutes at first, but that time could increase?

- will creating large/multiple/single images and bringing them to life effect the resonating partners?
Ok I still dont entirely get the resonance thing 8| but-- i think that in order to do several large images it would need a lot of focus and would be something that needed a lot of practice to improve on?  It would not be possible at first, but single images would be alright, regardless of size.

- what are the strengths of the creations in regards to their real-life counterparts?
they would retain any melee strength and speed of the originals.

- how detailed do the drawings have to be in order for the image to come to life?
ah- that is a good question. Sai himself has artistic talent so he is able to draw lifelike drawings extremely quickly. I am not sure exactly how that would transfer over to a Meister? If they were using him as a weapon, would they gain his artistic talent too?

- what are the sizes of images that come to life? Say, for example, a dragon is drawn, is it the same size as a large dragon?if an object is small it would be its original size. i think to make something as large as a real dragon, it would take a lot of skill for them. Not to say that it couldn't happen in the future but.. I think as a standard, something such as a tiger would probably be the largest creature that would be recreated in its actual size, and anything larger would be scaled down to about that size. (6 foot?)

- we would also like to know just how much power/ability the creations have once they've come to life. For example: if a magical creature was drawn, would the creature just fight with melee attacks or would it also have the magical attacks? It would just use melee attacks.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Describe your character’s soul with six adjectives.artistic, loyal, observant, confused, stoic, honest

What does your character’s soul look like? Be creative.
I see Sai's soul as being pretty basic, black in colour with perhaps a vertical red strip either side, similar to the red straps on his jacket.

First Person:

[The video feed switches on to show a pale boy silently staring at the screen, his brow creased in confusion. Lifting his head to look around at his surroundings, he once again turns his attention to the mysterious device in his hands]

Kakashi-sensei?

...Gai-sensei? Lee-kun?

...Naruto?[He frowns at the screen again before letting out a small sigh. The strange instrument appears to be some sort of communication device. Perhaps someone can hear him?]

This is Sai, formerly of the ambush squad, reporting in from Division Three. I believe that I, or my team, have suffered the effects of a transportation technique. I can sense no chakra in the surrounding areas.

[He waits for a response before frowning at the device once again. Getting no answer, he places it into his pack before setting off to investigate. Still unaware that it is recording, the video feed is filled with nothing but darkness and the rustling of fabric as he continues on his search.]

Third Person

"...."

Sai remains completely still, crouched on the floor. His brow knit in confusion, he glances in various directions trying to make out his surroundings. One moment he had been on the forest floor, preparing the next ink tiger on his scroll in order to seal the last remaining Mist Swordsman under the Edo Tensei technique, yet here he was now, surrounded by silence and darkness.  Sensing no other presence or immediate threat, he calls out to the other shinobi he had been with.

"Kakashi-sensei? Gai-san? Lee?" He waits for a reply, yet there is none. "...Naruto-kun?"

His frown deepens as he rises from the ground. Was this the result of an enemy jutsu? Was he under an illusion? Bringing both hands up towards his face, he clasps them together to form the standard seal used to break through illusion techniques.

"Kai!" Another silent frown crosses his features as the attempt to break through an illusion failed. Perhaps instead of genjutsu, he had been the victim of a transportation technique? Only a few shinobi are capable of those though... was this caused by Uchiha Madara? The masked Akatsuki seemed to have a specialty in space and time techniques.

"Who are you? Show yourself." As he reached back for his weapon, his mind went through a series of reasons as to why he could have been targeted. Was it to stop the sealing of the Mist Swordsmen? He had been the one performing the sealing technique after all. Was it in order to gain information on the whereabouts of Uzumaki Naruto? All of this was done in vain if that were the case, Sai may be a fellow member of Team Seven but he had no idea where Naruto currently was.

All current thoughts were halted however as he comes to the realization that not only is his blade missing, but its sheath also. An immediate search of his surrounding area proving fruitless, the shinobi instead reaches for the pack fastened to his back, once again crouching as he unravels a scroll onto the hard floor beneath him. Acquiring a brush, he swiftly draws one of his large birds onto the paper. Not knowing who his enemy is, it will be safer to scout the surroundings from the air, scroll in-hand when the mystery perpetrator finally decides to attack. Forming a hand seal once more, he initiates the technique.

"Ninpo- Chōjū Giga."

...Nothing. A frustrated sound leaves his lips as he attempts it a second time, yet the image remains on the paper, and Sai is completely confused. Before he has the chance to think on it any longer, a bright flash above him is enough to cause him to leap up, reaching for a kunai in his pack which has also gone missing. Understanding that he is now defenseless, he slowly turns to face the light- met with the image of three screens hovering above him, the image of a red-haired stranger peering down on him."

"Are you the instigator of this technique?" He pauses for an answer. "Where are my teammates?"
