For reallyreallyreal this time.

Over the past 5 or 6 years I have attempted college 3 times, and flunked out every time for various reasons (boys, drugs, my own scrambled headmeats). Going back to school was on the agenda "someday in the future when I get my shit together", the same attitude many 20-somethings have towards children ( Read more... )

Good for you! I've been in the same boat it appears. I've looked back at my academic transcripts with some disappointment and embarassment, but I'm buckling down NOW. Because this will be the last chance I get to make something of myself.

Thanks. :)
Yes, exactly. I know I have a lot of life to live, but this beast (and really, anything else worthwhile I could be doing with myself) is going to take up the next 5 or 6 years of my life.

And frankly, I'm tired of being a total fuckoff, you know?

yes I do know.

There are only so many goals I have, and this one has been a BIGGIE since I was 20 or so. Various events similar to yours (boys, poverty, lack of money, severe crippling depression)have lurked underfoot and caused the S.S. Brawnster to capsize.

But...

I think I'm ready to meet this goal. I feel adult enough now. And I'm tired of being a jagoff too.

Me too. I think I just might be able to pull it off this time.

I hope so, anyway ...

I'd say we should sign a pact or something, but I know I need to keep it absolutely free of any asociation that I might be doing it for anything other than its own sake or I'll freak out over it. 'cuz Im nuerotic like that.

thats the problem, isn't it? If you're just a screwball, people leave you alone, because you're just a screwball. If you prove you're competent once, people get really annoyed with you because then they expect that level of competence on a regular basis.
