I was hoping you wouldn't answer cause I knew you knew the answer from the last time I talked about The Life Aquatic, but there you go people, this man knows his shit.
And yeah, why wouldn't you put the most memorable song on the soundtrack. Unless you are some huge David Bowie fan, that song is the one that I'd say most people would remember.
that song, its use i found most effective in the flick, most impactful
the only others of note i thought were the zombies song 'the way i feel inside' and then like the movies theme song 'queen bitch'
but the only one i wanted to listen to a lot after the movie was the sigur ros song so yeah that didnt make any sense but from what i understand it was probably some crazy dispute or those wacky icelandic dudes wouldnt let them put it on the soundtrack but that doesnt make any sense because they licensed it for the movie but yes
i was kinda disappointed with the soundtrack though, especially in comparison to like rushmore and royal tenenbaums. i just found myself wishing that more portuguese bowie covers were on it. the stooges song and 'life on mars?' are great songs but i was like WHERES THE MAGIC HIDDEN GEM wes.
i need to see this movie again because ive only seen it once and i wasnt terribly impressed by it but i keep thinking theres some stifled growth and wahtever else references and themes that i skipped the first time
