I hate the facebook statuses reminiscent of early high school AIM away messages. It's like everyone is an emotional exhibitionist, and, of course, everyone is, but they don't have to be so obvious about it.
Why would you even feel the need to announce stuff like that? Deaths in the family? You really think AIM/Facebook is the appropriate venue to air your grief? It's just ridiculous.
i just stumbled across this entry...myhyenaflewawayOctober 1 2008, 08:46:27 UTC
i agree COMPLETELY!!! everything you've said here is exactly everything *i've* been feeling lately.
those dumb facebook status things are exactly like people's aim profiles in highschool. so here i am senior year of highschool (i'm sophomore in college now, but this is a flashback story), thinking "oh great, lol, remember all those dumb aim things from middle school? glad that's over." WRONG. >:( grrrrrr.
it pisses me off so much when i take my friends somewhere absolutely awesome and all they do is take pictures instead of enjoying the spot. pictures are often only worthy if they;re of worthy things and if they're candids. one doesn't NEED to be taking pictures (a zillion) of a hot dog stand. just NO.
