Summary: Gerard and Frank get practicing...
A/N: A oneshot for my first fanfic ^.^
“Are you sure?” Frank asked from his spot on the floor, leaning against Gerard’s bed and flipping through the comic he found lying next to him. He was glancing up at Gerard, who was sat on his desk swirly chair sideways, legs dangling over the arm rest and his head leaning against the back rest, drawing a picture of god knows what - probably a vampire of some sort, or a robot battling zombies to their doom.
“Yeah, it won’t mean shit, will it?” Gerard responds and pushes the pencil down on the paper to scratch on a shaded spot that needed to be darker. Frank and Gerard glanced at each other at the same time at one point and they were both nervous about what Gerard suggested. Both boys quickly looked away and tried to act casual.
“Well... no, but isn’t it sort of...” Frank trailed off and tried to find a word that wouldn’t offend either one of them. He couldn’t say gay or weird because they’ve both been called that all their lives. Except they’ll admit they’re a little weird, but they both denied they were gay when the other asked.
“No. It’s not when it doesn’t mean anything, I mean,” He put down his paper and started to gesture with his hands, which Gerard has a really bad habit of doing when he gets carried away with his shit. “You don’t have to do it; I just thought it’ll be ideal for when we get girls some time in our lives.” He pointed out.
“Well I guess that’s... reasonable?” Frank tried to convince himself that it was. But really he was really, really nervous. What if he liked it? What if he wanted more after just a simple kiss as practice, which might he add, doesn’t mean anything? He has to admit he is worried, and he doubts his urges and thinks he might get a little carried away if he does like it. He believes he is straight because of that girl in that house party who called him cute then ended up kissing him before she left then they never saw each other again. That counts as a girlfriend, right? Or at least, an excuse to be straight?
But he also admits he’s liked a guy before, in the way of actually wanted to grab their face and kiss the shit out them. He thought it was weird, that it was a phase guys go through when they’re fifteen or something. He still has boy crushes on people, Gerard being one of them. He first thought it was a love for your best friend, totally innocent and friendly but yet again, he was wrong. He figured that out when Gerard bent down in front of him to pick up his pencil when he dropped it and Frank had to make his heart stop so his blood didn’t rush to his manhood. But that doesn’t count as gay; he’s told himself before he started doing stupid things.
Gerard, on the other hand, thinks he’s not the straightest ruler in the drawer. He’s admitted that to himself before when he experienced getting boners in all guys PE classes from looking at John Davis’ ass a little too long for his liking. He was also nervous about kissing another guy, because he hasn’t even kissed a girl before - never mind a guy. He hasn’t a clue what to do, that’s why he asked Frank for the practice. Yeah, he’s wanted to kiss Frank before, just to see what he tastes like because Frank chews his lip a lot, so it must taste nice. Maybe it’ll mean something to Gerard, but what Frank doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
“So are we going to or what?” Frank spoke up after nearly ten minutes of silence. His voice almost shook when he talked, but he covered it up with a soft laugh. Frank was always the one to break the silence and the awkwardness. Gerard snapped back to reality after he heard Frank’s giggle die down into uncomfortable silence once again and he looked over to him. Frank had dropped the comic to his side, his knees up crossed and his hands resting on his lap. Gerard nodded and took a deep breath. Just practice, doesn’t mean a thing, he told himself as he walked over to the smaller boy.
Frank pushed himself up from his slouching position and turned towards Gerard as he took a seat next to him, sitting on the floor and putting his back against the bed side. He sighed when he landed next Frank, thinking of everything that could happen if something went wrong. What if Frank got creeped out in the middle of kissing and moved away? Or he laughed in Gerard’s face as soon as their lips were about to touch? No, that would never happen because Frank has already agreed and what would be rude.
Gerard turned as well, so their torsos were at an awkward angle but it would be easier for them to do what they’re about to. Both boys took a deep breath in unison and when they exhaled, laughed at each other for discovering that yes, they were both nervous for just practice. Gerard leaned in first, thinking because he’s the older, bigger, taller and more mature one that it was his job. He only stopped halfway so he didn’t look like he actually wanted it - even if he secretly did. Frank got the hint quickly and leaned forward just that little bit to make their lips connect.
As first, no one moved, no one knew what to do, no one did anything. They just sat there, their lips not really kissing - just touching. Then, for the same reasons as before, Gerard moved his lips first and applied more force onto Frank’s lips. He’s never done anything like it before, and he didn’t tell Frank that this was his proper first kiss before they started either, but he thought he was doing well for a beginner. Nor Frank’s or Gerard’s eyes were closed or were Frank pushing back, he was just sat there, looking down at his nose or their lips or something on the floor, anything other than Gerard.
When Gerard felt nothing happening with Frank, he pulled away and turned back to his original sitting position, not even facing Frank - who in which, turned and kept silent too. Frank felt butterflies in his stomach from what just happened and he had to fight every cell in his body not to make him blush like he just got his pants pulled down in a supermarket. Gerard sat there in silence and tried to quiet his breathing, trying not to sound nervous anymore.
“Maybe,” Frank mumbled into his chest due to his head hanging, his eyes locking on his hands in his lap. “Maybe we could, uh, practice again?” He tried to sound innocent and sweet, like he wanted the practice again. In reality (a reality Frank was ignoring) he just wanted to kiss Gerard again and show him he can kiss back too. He didn’t move the first time because of the pure shock of everything. He was kissing a guy - that guy being someone you’ve got a boy crush on and who is your best friend and who has really soft lips - for the first time. Don’t blame him for being shocked.
“Um, if you- you want?” Gerard questioned back and looked up to find Frank’s eyes. He wanted to see them, but nothing showed except the black fringe covering his eyes. Frank slowly nodded after a while of sitting in the spot and lifted his head, turning as he did before. Gerard followed his lead and leaned in again just to get the awkward part over. Frank leaned in as well, instantly knowing how to play his cards from just one round. Their lips touched again and no one moved again. That is, until Frank took the lead this time.
He pushed his lips forward, trying to prove that he can kiss back and not be a total asshole to leave Gerard do all the work. Gerard responded rather quickly and pushed again, so now they were even. After passing the not-kissing-just-touching stage, they didn’t have a clue what else to do. Gerard’s obviously heard about people kissing and had an idea, but he wasn’t sure if he could do that without Frank pulling away. But then he reminded himself that it was practice, and they could go as far as they wanted.
Frank parted his lips ever so slightly without Gerard trying anything, bringing the older boy to a surprise. Thinking it was an invitation; Gerard licked his tongue over Frank’s lips and slowly pushed it into his slightly open mouth. Surprising Gerard again, Frank made a small noise that neither of them could put a finger on. What am I doing? Frank thought, it’s Gerard, quick correction, a guy. And I’m moaning? I hope he didn’t hear... Why do I like this? Other than Gerard being a good kisser and knowing what to do because I sure as fuck don’t.
Once Gerard’s tongue was fully in Frank’s mouth and exploring it freely, Frank thought, what the heck, and went for it too. Gerard’s nerves washed away when he felt Frank’s tongue sliding across his and making an entry to his mouth. He found it awkward again soon because now they’ve done everything on the kissing practice scale but he figured they both didn’t want to stop. Well, Gerard didn’t, he didn’t know about Frank.
Then he soon figured out what Frank wanted after he pulled away and left Gerard almost kissing the air if he didn’t have his eyes open. Frank looked more nervous than before, twiddling his thumbs on his lap and his head hanging like after the first time they sort-of-kissed. Gerard had an arm resting on the bed surface for something to lean on and his body still turned, watching everything Frank did. He really didn’t expect Frank to talk to him, never mind look at him, but he really wanted the younger one to lift his gaze. He got it was awkward, and Frank was really nervous, but he didn’t want the kiss to end that quickly.
“S-sorry,” Frank whispered after a while. “It’s just... well, I’ve never actually kissed another dude before and, you know, it’s just, um...” He trailed his speech off, not saying anything that came to mind. He actually loved that kiss that just happened, but he thought it was getting a bit much and he was about to eat Gerard’s face off if he didn’t stop himself. He didn’t trust himself, but he couldn’t tell Gerard that without him thinking that he was gay or that he wanted it. Turns out, with some mental battling, Frank did want it, and he wanted Gerard.
“It’s okay, if you’re not comfortable doing this, I don’t mind.” Gerard spoke a little quickly, like he wanted to get something out but he was afraid to say it. Maybe they should both just get on with it, say what they want and kiss the shit out of each other, like they want to.
“No! I mean, no, I’m okay with- I agreed with it, didn’t I?” He breathed a laugh and lifted his head up. “Can I tell you something?” He asked and looked dead into Gerard’s eyes. Suddenly, Gerard felt himself tense up and think of everything bad that Frank could tell him. Like, he wasn’t really comfortable doing this and he didn’t want to anymore or that he wanted to just go home and leave Gerard sitting there.
“Sure.” Gerard shuffled a little closer to Frank, dropping his hand off the bed and turning to be almost shoulder to shoulder with the shorter boy. Frank thought he should lose his shyness now if he wants to get more out of Gerard, so that’s exactly what he did.
“You’re a great fucking kisser,” He whispered close to Gerard’s ear, the cold breath sending a small shiver down Gerard’s back and neck. “And I think I need a lot more practice,” He muttered and grabbed onto Gerard’s shirt collar, dragging him forward and crashing their lips together.
