I got around to downloading Daybreakers last night. I have a horrible weakness for shiny populist action scifi, so I'm not really qualified to seriously critique the plot, but one thing happened which was really interesting.
The Ethan Hawke vampire character starts to get hungry after going without food for too long, and so the main human woman character (er, sorry, none of them were memorable enough to have the names down) realises that she's going to have to feed him. I was totally bracing myself for some gratuitous bloodsucking metaphor porn when she slices her hand with her own knife, squeezes the blood out into a cup, and then gives the cup to him. It was sensible, not at all sexualised, and she got to control exactly how much she was giving him.
I kind of want to steal beccatoria's 'a surprising lack of sexism!' tag for this one.
