Summary: Poor weather conditions in Europe grounds Key’s flight to Milan and gets him stuck in a French airport, where he meets the one person he doesn’t expect to see.

Written for shineesanta ; last minute pinch hit :D

“When it rains, it pours. When it snows, it blizzards.” Thought Key rather unhappily, looking at the floor glumly. Generally he was okay with the snow; growing up in the cold winters of Seoul, but not when it disrupted his travel plans by diverting the flight he was on that was originally bound for Milan.

Now he was grounded here at Roissy airport and going to be god knows how many days behind schedule. Oh goodness, what if he couldn’t make it for his own fashion show? This was ridiculous.

Maybe he could whine the counter lady into getting him the earliest flight out or maybe bribe her with a printed scarf in his latest collection. Yep, he’d try that.

His head snapped up.

And that was when he realized a very familiar person standing not three feet away peering at him.

“You.”

His heart skipped a beat.

“Hello.” The person waved a little, slightly awkwardly.

“Are you stalking me or something? Why are you here?” The moment Key said that, there was a strange, still pause in the air. These words were reminiscent of a time long ago.

His pale-brown hair was a little tousled, longer than how Key remembered it and he was dressed in a boring blue and grey striped business shirt and pressed black pants ensemble. Quite a contrast from the dark navy half trench coat Key had on above a burgundy shirt and white skinny jeans and a gorgeous, intricate Pucci scarf.

The man cleared his throat, awkward as ever but inched his way to in front of Key.

“It’s been a while, Kibummie.”

The nickname came naturally; Key didn’t bother faulting him for it. He himself still called the man ‘Onew’ in his head. Key nodded slightly, not betraying any emotions.

Onew held out the paper cup he had in hand to him. Key looked at him suspiciously but accepted grudgingly nonetheless. His hands were getting cold.

“Lee Jinki, this better not be one of your disgusting black coffees.”

He took a sip and narrowed his eyes.

“And why were you drinking this.”

It was the way Key himself normally had coffee, with an added shot of hazelnut- not the way the older man would drink it. Onew shrugged, in his annoying adorable dopey way and sat next to Key, parking his hand luggage under the seat. Key pretended to be unaffected and unconcerned as he sat down again, pulling out a white sketch pad to doodle designs on.

After about approximately six hours and twelve minutes, Key could not stand the silence any longer. Not the silence of the airport; far from it- Roissy was getting crowded with more stranded passengers whose flights had be grounded as well due to the snowstorm.

“Why are you here anyway? Not at home with your parents and… Luna-sshi?” Key asked suddenly, questioningly, slightly bitter.

“I…”

“It can’t be work. No firm in their right mind would conduct audits in the midst of the holiday season.”

And Jonghyun said Key would never realize. Why did Jinki even listen to the younger man? He should have known Key would be on it immediately.

It was pressure actually. His parents had been urging him to ‘bring his relationship with Luna-sshi to a higher level’- he knew his parents liked her a great deal; she matched him well. Jinki knew if he stayed in Seoul for the holidays, his parents would have pushed and he would have buckled and he would do injustice to everybody.

Everybody.

Including the fashion designer who was currently gazing at him with gorgeous piercing eyes. The person whom he roomed with for three years in college despite calling him a stalker on the first day, the person who laughed at his major, the person whom he dated for two years, four months and nineteen days, the person he broke up with for nine months and twenty five days, the person who named his latest fucking fashion collection ‘Your Name’, the person he uncharacteristically, impulsively booked and boarded a flight to Italy for,

The person whom he was supposed to fly to Milan to meet and sweep off his feet if he would even allow him to,

The person to whom he owed a thousand apologies to, due to his own stupidity and pride and morals.

The person whom he hoped with all his heart would forgive him because he still loved him with the intensity of endless summer.

“You.” Jinki admitted.

And Key paused for a moment; gaped, disbelief and suspicion and exhaustion flitting past his pretty face before finally, the one beautiful thing at the bottom of Pandora’s Box appeared.

Hope.

And Jinki felt hope in his heart as well.
