Booktyping sets the type of a DVD+R disc to DVD-Rom which makes it more readable by most dvd players. I always booktype to DVD-rom if possible, that way I am more certain that my backups will play on other dvd players. There is a lenghty thread or two about booktyping in the newbie forum.
