They're freaky, but really good. Would love to know the technique - is it Photoshop wizardry?

yeah it is.

Basically I alter the original image - converting to sepia (using either Lightroom or duotoned in PS) - then I add a layer (obtained from Flickr group) and altered slightly with levels and/or curves etc.

It's quite easy - but if you want a bit better tutorial I could type one up for you?
