Duck and Geoffrey had been so good to her that Charlie could hardly bear it, not with everything she'd done. She'd left Ianto's house and she'd been hiding from Hiro, and her Daddy had raised her to be braver than that. He'd raised her to be better than that, too ( Read more... )

Hiro was enjoying his stay on the island thus far. Apart from wishing that Ando was there to enjoy all of the 'famous' people Hiro had seen. He'd met the T-1000 who had saved him from a dinosaur. And Glen Bateman who looked just like Uncle Martin from My Favorite Martian and Boothby from Star Trek, though Ando probably wouldn't know who that was. And Charlie was still alive!

There had been the down side of finding Kensei here. He was glad that Ando wasn't here for that fact. Despite whatever Adam said, Hiro didn't believe it. He was certain his powers just weren't working for the time being, but that he'd get them back again. Once he figured out why they weren't working ( ... )

"Hey, Hiro."

Charlie stood on the doorway of her own house, and she didn't feel brave. She felt scared, not by this man that she'd been so in love with. She'd been on the island for nearly two years, and he'd come and gone once and now he was back and now she had so much more to lose.

"Can I come in, honey? I can make us some tea."

"Yes, please. Come in. This is your house." He ushered her inside. He'd offer to make the tea if he knew where anything was, but he'd respected her things in her absence.

There was a bit of awkwardness in the air. Things had been simple on the beach, but she'd left him in her house for two days and he wasn't sure what exactly it meant or if it meant anything at all. Maybe she'd just been busy with her life on Tabula Rasa.

A long time ago, felt like, Duck had rigged her a little stove in the corner, made out of one of the big tins from the kitchen. It took a while to boil water, but it was good enough for making tea. She took some of the water set to one side and set it up on the stove.

"Are you settling in, sugar?" She looked back at him over her shoulder. "I'm sorry I haven't...I'm sorry I haven't been here, Hiro. It's not good enough, and my daddy raised me better than that. I'm sorry."

All of that said while she was looking at her hands. All of it said while she was fixing the tea.
