Carry a notebook. Don't sit down with the intention of creating an idea, blank pages are the most difficult thing to face. During your day jot down the random thoughts, inspirations, and events you encounter that hold that deeper glimmer of truth.

3x5 note cards are good too. if something inspires, or you have something in mind draw it quick on the blank side of the card and include any notes or word associations on the lined side. this quarter at school i just kept a box of 3x5s in my bag and drew on there during class with a sharpie. i just doodled what ever came out of my pen. sometimes i approached a card with a word or feeling. it's interesting to doodle, write down word associations with it and then look at a collection of cards and see what common themes are in your word associations and doodles. i really enjoy this subconscious concept method.
