Ha! That's great. There were a bunch of military men who went over to Japan in the wake of WWII who were taught Japanese words, but thought it wasn't so important to learn the different grammer and courtesies and nuances -- they just tried to trenslate word for word. Needless to say, they accross to the Japanese as rather foolish and had a hard time communicating.
