Okay, so the inevitable happened. My computer finally shit itself inside-out last night. I made the dumb mistake of trying to upgrade to WinXP Service Pack 2 from SP1, and everything basically came crashing down. I spent 10 hours today trying to salvage Windows, but in the process, made things much, much worse. I'm posting this from the family

SP2 never causes problems if you slipstream it into an XP install disc. I only hear of problems when installing it by itself on a very old XP install like yours was.

Yeah, I just got the clean reformat and the fresh install of XP + SP2 taken care of at like 4am last night - Now I'm working on getting my internet to connect again, but I can't seem to locate my WEP password that the Comcast tech put on our wireless router :(
