Four drabbles! Switching Places

Oct 22, 2005 11:51

Following are four drabbles... my offering to the altar of the twins. All of the drabbles actually center around them switching places, so... enjoy!

- Title: Fed Up
- Word Count: 100
- Characters: Molly, young twins
- Notes: Don't ask me what got me started in this vein, but the place-switching thing caught my eye.

Molly had had enough. They were only five and they'd already mastered the art of switching places… how horrid would they be later in life? "That's it," she muttered, pointing her wand at the nearest twin. A flash and a flutter of hair later, George Weasley was very nearly hairless.

She was satisfied for a bit, so much so that she didn't see the grubby, freckled fist grab her wand. By the time she found them, George was covered in spots, floating in mid-air, and his hair had returned.

Each of them pointed at the other, wide-eyed. "He did it."

- Title: History Class
- Word Count: 100
- Characters: Hogwarts-age twins
- Notes: Doesn't everyone wish they could do this?

"Is it your day or is it my day?" Fred Weasley laid on his back, tossing a small plush Bludger up toward the ceiling and catching it easily in one wide-palmed hand.

"I went yesterday. It's your day," George yawned, snatching Fred's pillow from under his head and getting comfortable. "You answered three questions yesterday, and I only answered two. Know-it-all."

"Bugger." Fred would have argued, but George was right. "Hey, George?"

"Hm?"

"When do you think Binns will realize there's only one of us in class?"

George grinned, reached up and snatched the Bludger on the downfall. "Hopefully never."

- Title: Worthy
- Word Count: 100
- Characters: Hogwarts-era twins, mention of Katie
- Notes: With love to kaz814 and her lovely Katie. This is for you, dear, and for getting me to ship Fred/Kay.

"Well?" George dogged his brother's steps, waiting for an answer.

Fred shrugged, tossing his tie on the floor. After weeks, he'd finally found the perfect time to ask out Katie. "She said yes." He flopped on his bed with a wide grin.

"Brilliant!" George shouted. "And I get first date!" It was a long-standing ritual, letting the other determine whether the girl was worthy. They'd even switched for part of the Yule Ball. But now, Fred didn't look so amenable.

"It's different," he said.

And that changed everything. "All right," George agreed, reaching to punch Fred's shoulder. "Then she's worthy."

- Title: Foolin'
- Word Count: 100
- Characters: Post-Hogwarts George, Nymphadora Tonks
- Notes: With love to jennymalfoy and her unequalled Tonks. Long live the freakship.

Tonks narrowed her eyes and turned over to lie on top of him, her elbows planted on his chest. "You understand I would kill you if you two switched?"

George laughed, stopping only when she dug an elbow into his ribs. "Come on, love, it's not that bad. Just a bit of fooling."

"Not that bad?" Tonks asked. Her face started changing, the figure stretched over him shifting. "Just a bit of fooling, eh, brother?" Now the spitting image of a twin, Tonks pitched her voice like Fred's and laughed loudly as George shoved her off of him.

Lesson learned.
