Well, my birthday was kinda meh. I feel kind of selfish to complain about these things, but whatever. I can be the selfish one sometimes. Everybody else in my family gets to be.

That's really lame re: your birthday. I still feel like I let you down while you were here with me, I didn't have enough of a plan for things to do. I've been around more of the area now and know of a lot of restaurants at this point, if nothing else. Anyway, you'd think they would try a little harder, seeing as this is the last birthday they might have with you for a while? Or at least the last holiday-ish event you'll be with them for in some time? Sounds like your folks are just pretty casual and spontaneous when it comes to doing things
