The ancient people of Jeebu revered the tongue as an organ of strength, flexibility and sensuality. Young Jeebuites dedicated years learning tongue twisters from famous tongue-in-cheek writers. Jeebuian officials often appeared tongue-tied while discussing public policies. Adolescents, traditionally, received the gift of tongues, which were worn on the tip-of-the-tongue for quick retrieval. Sometimes, double-tongued women met round the corners and let their tongues fly, inadvertently resorting to their mother tongues. Courts served justice by way of tongue-piercings and tongue-splitting, but hardened criminals only claimed that it enhanced the pleasure of tongue-kissing and stuck their tongues out, while women blushed pink.
