Summary: When the Straw Hat crew pays a visit to Alabasta, they worry about how Nico Robin will be accepted by Vivi and the others.
None of the civilians really knew who she was. They had a vague recollection of the tall and slim woman with jet-black hair and cool eyes. They glanced at her with wariness, apprehension, as she went slowly from stall and stall, purchasing Alabastian flowers, trailing behind the rest of her group.
“I told you bringing her was a bad idea,” Zoro grumbled to his captain, his hand close to the hilt of his katana.
“What the hell else was she supposed to do?” Sanji snapped at him. “Stay on the ship for a whole week, alone?!”
“Both of you shut it!” Nami hissed.
“Yeah,” Usopp agreed. “You’re making us look even more suspicious with your whispering!”
Chopper walked close to the sharpshooter, casting nervous glances at the people around them. Luffy merely shrugged lightly and said, “What’ll happen will happen.”
When they reached the palace, the guards started, recognizing that calm demeanor and those dangerous hands. They were hesitant, but allowed them to enter, watching her closely as they led them to the throne room.
King Nebra’s mouth fell open a little when he saw her. Chaka went tense, and Igaram gritted his teeth. Vivi’s wide eyes searched the faces of the pirates she called friends - some apologetic, some uneasy, and Luffy’s unnervingly steady. A heavy, awkward silence fell over the room; it was much unlike the joyful reunion they might have previously imagined in their heads.
Vivi was the first to speak, breaking the quiet in a halting voice.
“Welcome back, everyone. It’s so good to see you all again.” She paused and nodded to the unexpected addition. “You as well…Miss All-Sunday.”
The corner of the quiet woman’s mouth curled upwards just the slightest, in her enigmatic smile that made the princess’ heart speed with fear. Suddenly, two skillful and slender arms appeared on both sides of Vivi’s head. Everyone but Luffy went tense…until the two hands produced a recently purchased desert flower and delicately tucked the beautiful blossom into Vivi’s hair.
“Call me Robin,” she said as the arms disappeared.
Vivi blinked a few times in surprise, before a gentle smile broke out across her pretty face.
“Welcome, Robin.”
Everyone relaxed, and Luffy grinned knowingly, his hands on his hips as he tilted his head back and laughed.
