Today is a bit of a timewaster. I am going 'round to classes hyping the underlings AGM and I am supposed to be working on my journal for 366 in the between-times, but so far I have done nothing. Well not completely nothing, I got lost in the woods at UVic. I have been meaning to check out the trails around UVic and finally got a chance, I ( Read more... )

you may have done all of these, but here are my favorite hidden (and not so hidden) gems in and around victoria:

go to pagliaccis, if only for their bread. mmmmm.

walk the breakwater on a stormy day

spend a day at the museum, actually reading about everything. my favorite is the first nations exhibit. ive seen it like 100 times in my life but it never fails to enthrall me :)

go for iced cream at the beacon drive in (best iced cream in the west) and eat it in some pretty little nook in beacon hill

bubble tea at panacea!!

take one of the little harbour ferries

enjoy a bellini at milestones, while taking in that splenderous view!!

While you're at Thetis, check out Prior, a small clean nudist lake just in behind Thetis. Well, its "clothing optional" to be precise. But its totally fun. What else?

Take a "ghost tour". They start downtown at everyone's fave waffle cone place Sweet Memories.

Take a Ross Bay Cemetary tour.

Do a tour of Helmkin (I just know that's spelled wrong) House, and Point Ellis House. Hmmm... I like ghost and history tours.

Have you been to Craigdarroch Castle? Or Hatley Manor? Go see the gardens at the Hatley Castle before they start charging the insane $12 per head they're going to start charging!

Climb Mt. Work (also known as Mt Goldstream). Check out East Sooke Park.

Do the drive to Tofino. It's stunning and well worth the day it takes to go up there.

That's all I can think of right now.... Maybe more later....
