Dr supervised programs?

In the previous post about wl surgery, someone mentioned in the comments about doctor-supervised weight loss programs. What experiences have people here had with weight loss physicians? For me, it was as simple as going to my PCP, discussing weight loss strategies for about 2 minutes, and then having her sign off on the form the insurance company provided. My insurance is a small regional plan that uses a huge company for their network out of their local region, so we started the doctor supervised program that the big company requires before we found out the the small company who makes the actual decisions doesn't require it ( ... )

When I was in high school, i went on Medifast with my mom, which is doctor-supervised. It was basically an all liquid diet and they tested every week to see if we cheated. We lasted maybe 2 weeks before we went to a mexican food buffet and i ate so much that i puked.

That's my experience with a doctor supervised weight loss program.

I had surgery last summer to get my gallbladder removed. The surgeon, who also does bariatric surgery, found some fatty deposits in my liver. He strongly suggested i lose weight before it becomes a problem. I was around 300 lbs and 5'6". He gave me contact information for a nutritionist in their bariatric program ( ... )
