Title: Blue-Ice
Author: acidpop25
Rating: PG-13
Prompt Set: 100.1
Prompt: #31, "Snowflakes"
Word Count: 289
Summary: "Dance," she repeats, and pulls me to the floor by the wrist.
Warnings: None
Notes: Luna/Padma, because the world needs more of it. I'm hugely indebted to the song "When the Stars Go Blue" for this one.

You think you understand.

"Padma, Padma," the grip of thin pale fingers. Like snow, like snow.

"Luna, what-"

"Stop thinking," she says.

And I do.

For once.

Icicle eternity, crystal clear in the cold.

"Powdered sugar," she says, and brushes snowflakes from my hair.

"Just snow."

She just smiles that smile of hers. "Sugar," she repeats, and leans over, licks one off my cheek and closes her eyes. "Sweet."

"You can't make it sugar just by saying it is."

Luna blinks and looks up. "Why not?"

The snow is falling, glistening white and silent in the deepening dark. Why not?

It doesn't go away.

Where do you go when you're lonely?

"Dance with me," she says, and her big blue eyes are sparkling. The room is aglow in blue, the blue light and the ice and the stars through the ceiling, and maybe Luna's dress is that frail wispy blue or maybe it just looks it.

"What?" Too many people to see, to laugh, to hurt, Luna, too many people.

"Dance," she repeats, and pulls me to the floor by the wrist. A swish of chiffon and the whirl of music and her arms are around me, and it's all a blur and a spin and Luna is laughing, laughing, laughing crystal clear blue-ice laughter and then she pulls me to her and says. "Slow, slow, breathe," and rests her head against me, sways with me, and everything is blue and lonely and all I can hear is the sound of her breath. Her hair shines, starlit.

I'll follow you.

"Luna.."

"Shh," she whispers, and does not move. "Everything's going to be all right."

She is crying.

She is crying, and all I can see is the blue.
