Figures in black circled around her. Her ears were filled with their taunting, hateful cries and her eyes were bombarded by the hideousness of their masks. All around her people were dying, buildings were crashing down, and she had been chosen as his prize.
The figures got closer and closer, encasing her, trapping her within their circle. One moved in farther, stepping right behind her, his red eyes daring any one of his followers to try and take her from him. Another came forward, his grotesque mask hiding any expression. A wand was raised. A curse shouted in a guttural cry.
When the dust settled and all lay bare around them, she peeled back his hood and removed his mask. She was met with blond hair and blue eyes. The blond hair and blue eyes of her lover, her saviour.
