Ginny is sitting at the Yule Ball, watching wistfully at the dancing pairs, wishing Neville hadn't stepped on her toes quite that much, when she notices a strange boy standing in front of her.
"Hi", he says and smiles. "Bored?"
Ginny smiles timidly and nods.
He extends his hand. "I'll make you forget that."
Ginny stands up and takes the hand offered to her.

"Ginny, why are you crying?"
Ginny looks up and sees Dean looking worriedly at her.
"Oh, it's nothing really, I just... It's nothing."
Dean looks evenly at Ginny for a while, then kneels down and wipes the tears from her face. "Let me make you laugh."
Ginny looks hopefully at Dean and feels something flutter in her stomach.

Harry looks at Ginny, and without asking permission, takes her by her waist and bows down to kiss her. Ginny thinks she might faint, she's feeling so light-headed, but luckily Harry doesn't let go of her, but pulls her with him out of the common room. Harry doesn't make any promises when he sweeps Ginny of her feet and makes her his girlfriend, but Ginny just knows what being Harry's girlfriend must mean, because Harry is the hero. This must be the happily ever after.

Ginny sees desperation at Ron's eyes when he clenches Ginny's arm tightly and wets his lips. "Ginny," he whispers. "I love you. I need you." Ginny looks at his eyes and makes her decision. She presses her lips on his lips and her body against his body. Ron answers the kiss passionately, moves his other hand to Ginny's waist and runs the other through her hair. Ginny moans and deepens the kiss. She can taste desperation, passion and a promise of love.
Maybe that's what Ginny's been looking all this time.
