God, I haven't done a prompt in ages. Deathly Hallows has thrown me all out of whack. In the meantime this is just to prove that I'm still alive.

It had been a couple of years since he’d visited the storage vault. The first time was straight after his Gran’s death to collect important files. Since then he’d told himself he was happy with what he got for himself. His independence meant a lot to him, and his inheritance money had just about paid for three years of training.

Still. To see his Gran’s old things again was very strange. There were boxes with labels like ‘papers’, ‘photographs’ and ‘clothes’ as well as several with his own name on them. Looking through them he found baby clothes, books, even a lumpy-looking teddy bear that he couldn’t remember ever having. He put all those to one side, to show to Tracey later.

It took him three hours to go through all her clothes. There were dresses that looked about two hundred years old. The photographs he didn’t think he could bear. Eventually he found a box labelled ‘jewellery’. Sighing, he removed the magical tape to discover four separate chests inside.

He groaned. He knew he’d put off this trip for a reason. Why did his Gran have all this stuff? She could have made a fortune by selling it - while it was still in fashion, anyway.

He removed the chests, straining at the weight of them. Only once he had done that did he realise there were five chests. An extra small one was hiding at the bottom of the box. He pulled it out and frowned. He didn’t remember this one.

When he opened it, he almost dropped it. A diamond ring was glittering up at him from the box. It had to be his Gran’s engagement ring - hell, he’d never even seen her wedding ring - but it was perfect! He grinned and put the box in his bag, silently thanking her. He had a feeling she would want him to have it.

Hours later when he left the vault, he took a moment to breath in the fresh air and imagine the things that were to come. And you thought I’d never get a girl, Gran, he thought. I hope you’re watching this.
