Summary: It's been a while since his last visit. Post DH.
He walked down the corridor, following the large green arrows painted on the floor. He’d walked the same corridor every week of every holiday for sixteen years. Each time it seemed to get longer.
As he walked he reached up to his head, scratching at the singed ends of his hair. He’d be extra wary of putting on hats from now on, perhaps for the rest of his life. He’d got a bit jumpy around fire for the last few days, as well, even going through the Floo. He’d taken the Knight Bus to the hospital.
It had been a harrowing week. He and the others had gotten a small idea about what life must be like for Harry all the time. Reporters had flooded the school at the news of Voldemort’s death and the defeat of the Death Eaters. It hadn’t been much appreciated, especially at the funerals of those they had lost, but those who had fought were praised admirably in the headlines. Snakeslayer, they were calling him. Bit of a tall order considering he hadn’t been the first by the long shot to do that. Still, it was nicer than some of the names his friends had latched on to. Fuzzy-head was the nicest of those.
He turned the corner and came face to face with the door at last. It had been almost a year since his last visit, since he hadn’t been able to leave school. He hadn’t wanted to leave Ginny and Luna and the others. But every now and then…
He shook his head and pushed the door open. “Hey Mum. Dad. Missed you.”
