Title: Void Inside
Author: bloodonmyarms
Prompt Set: 50.1
Prompt: #026 Friends
Word Count: 217

Summary: That longing never went away.

The sun seemed to be always shining when Albus would be sitting with his, well, admirers. The Hogwarts grounds were the perfect place to show off his skill. He would gracefully send things into the air with just a flick of his wand have homework in on time - and get top marks, although no one ever saw him slaving away in the common room.

He was never so arrogant as to actually believe he was better than the rest of his students, but the lack of stimulation made him frustrated. He longed, deep down, for someone who was just as talented as he, someone he could talk to, and who would truly understand him. Later on in life, Albus would come to realise that those who had leadership thrust upon them were often the ones who need a shoulder to rest their head on and a hand on the small of their back.

Therefore he always tried to help those who he saw as great. Sometimes his instincts were wrong, but he always hoped that those with an air of destiny over them, would fill that void inside him. That longing never went away; it gnawed away at Albus, until he would sink into regret over losing the one person who may have been his only chance.
