Summary: People always told Albus when he was young that he was destined for greatness.
People always told Albus when he was young that he was destined for greatness. They always said that his magical talent was so amazing that he was sure to be famous. People told Albus he was great so often that he started to believe them. He believed that his life after Hogwarts would be a series of awards, interviews and swooning fans. He couldn’t wait - the life that waited for him seemed so exciting, so glamorous, so different than the one he had in Godric’s Hollow.
Gellert always said that he’d be there with him - right by his side. The two greatest hopes for the magical world.
It didn’t take long though for it all to crumble in front of Albus’ eyes.
He soon started to realise his life wouldn’t be full of awards and parties, at least not in the way he hoped. That life would be granted to others, and Albus would have to contend with the sadder dealings of life - grief, fear, hate. He supposed someone had to be the shoulder to cry on, the rock to cling to when times got rough. That was the burden he was destined to bear, and Gellert would have to live without Albus by his side.
