Summary: Blacksmiths made swords and errand boys got ore, but sometimes the errand boy is unlucky.

Taichi paced the streets of the supermarket in hopes of finding a seller of copper ores for his master. He usually found plenty in the southern district, but lately, it's been too dangerous for miners, and less and less people were willing to do the job.

Beads of sweat trickled down the youth's face, he was sweating partly from the heat, and partly from what his master would do to him if he went back empty-handed.

His head bobbed from stall to stall, still not finding any luck. Feeling dejected, Taichi made to leave. "Um, excuse me." He paused; was someone talking to him? "Um, over here!"

The boy whirled around to meet a cute faced brunette behind a stall. He blinked before realizing she was talking to him, and nodded his acknowledgement politely. She sighed in relief to find that he was well-mannered, unlike a lot of boys his age, "You seem a bit down. Did you lose something?"

Taichi smiled. It was good to know that nice people like her still existed. "Well, it's not like I lost something, but I am looking for something."

The girl nodded in understanding, and then questioned, "And what might that be?"

Taichi's eyes sparkled with renewed hope, "I'm looking for copper ores!"

"Oh..." The girl frowned. A bad sign, one that dampened Taichi's new-found spirits considerably--until her face lit up again. "Oh! We'll have some in stock by tomorrow! Will you come back then?"

The boy was about to hastily accept--when his master's words rang in his mind. 'If you can't get anything right, don't bother coming back until you do!' That was a serious threat, he just couldn't go back empty-handed. The girl didn't seem to notice his anguish until he stuttered an answer, "I c-can't... I can't go back until I get the ores."

A long silence came between them, Taichi staring at the ground in embarrassment, the lady seemingly in deep thought.

"Well then.... How about you stay with me until we get the ores?" The offer came across so easily, she was just so inviting and sincere that it took a while for the boy to respond coherently. His face beaming with excitement, he nearly hugged the young woman, "Really!? Thank you so much!"

"It's no problem!" She said with a kind smile. "By the way, my name is Tohru--nice to meet you!"

"I'm Dan Taichi. Nice to meet you too."

As most stall owners, the lady's "house" was right behind her stall, a small comfortable living area with plenty of boxes piled up neatly on the side and few rooms. The floor was padded hay which rested atop several concrete blocks to keep from the rain.

He couldn't help but notice how dark the room was. That was probably due to the place having only one window. The lady disappeared in a small kitchen, mentioning something about making himself at home. So he took a seat next to one of the boxes, just in time for someone to come walking into the house.

"I'm home." The man called, startling Taichi quite a bit. The man seemed startled to see the boy there, too, but he didn't mention anything to him. He just walked over to the other side of the room near a small end table and sat down.

Tohru peeked her head out of the kitchen to give the man a smile, "Welcome home, Yuki-kun!"

Taichi was flustered, unsure of what to say. "Is this your husband?"

The girl blushed furiously, a nervous smile on her face, "M-me and Yuki-kun!? No! No, it's not that way!" Embarrassed, she ran back into to kitchen to resume whatever she'd been doing.

Feeling even more uncomfortable, he just sat there and waited for the ringing silence to return. They couldn't possibly be related. Tohru was a cute brunette, while this guy... well, he wasn't a brunette. Taichi didn't even get a good look at his face, either. He looked away quickly when he realized the young man was looking at him from across the room. It was embarrassing to be caught staring.

But the stranger offered a polite approach, "Has Tohru offered to let you stay the night?"

Taichi nodded affirmingly. "Yes."

'Yuki' smiled gently, not letting his eyes leave the other. "She is very kind, you must be grateful."

"I am!" Taichi replied, a little too quickly. He was just so flustered, this Yuki's voice, it was so smooth and gentle, it was unsettling. Weren't guys like him.... 'funny'? But there was no use in assuming things. It'd be rude to ignore the person you were staying with. Taichi moved so that he was sitting next to the gentleman who, now that he had a chance to observe him, had a very beautiful visage. "I'm waiting for copper ores to be in stock. You see, my master would be angry with me if I came home with nothing--he'd be fine if I didn't come home at all! Actually. Haha..."

Yuki simply nodded in understanding. There was something about this boy that he liked, he had something... similar to what Tohru had, but he couldn't quite place it because he didn't know the boy.

"That's right." The grey-haired youth started, "We should have them by tomorrow, unless Kyo gets any more unreliable."

Kyo? Taichi wanted to ask, but didn't.

Besides, staring at this one's face was so intriguing. He'd never seen anyone with a more laid-back, composed and pretty face. He wondered if his personality was the same... When Yuki started giving him a confused look, he tore his gaze away with a blush, "I-I'm sorry! I was thinking! I always zone out a little when I'm thinking! I didn't mean to make you think that I'm weird or anything because I was staring like that--and I know that it's rude and I shouldn't have, but all of a sudden I was justing remembering how I've never--"

"Shh." Yuki motioned with his hand that it was alright. "I understand. Don't panic."

"I'm sorry!" Taichi moaned, feeling ditzy. That was a really bad time to start rambling. In fact, every time was a bad time to start rambling, but somehow he always forgot this.

Tohru came out of the kitchen with two trays of food and a big smile.

The very next day, Taichi gladly purchased the ore and left for home--but the image of that beautiful man never left his mind. The more he thought about him, the more his heart would pound, and it had gotten to the point where he'd have freakishly personal dreams.

It made him wonder who was the real 'funny' one... Taichi just didn't have any luck.
