It was another busy day at the office and I wasn’t looking forward to it…as usual. It seemed like everyday when I walked out the empty building with my briefcase in my hand, I regretted ever working for the company.
My boss always seemed to be pissed off, probably because he had been experiencing marriage problems for the past five months and occasionally his wife would kick him out the house. Then, there was all the work he gave us, which he doubles on me since I have so much experience. And lastly, my employees that occupied the area, specifically Asagi and Toshiya.
I always wondered if anyone else found them annoying. Every time I began typing and sort out things, Toshiya’s giggle would interrupt my thought process. Maybe Asagi was a complete hornball and didn’t know how to keep his hands to himself during work hours. Or maybe, the rumors about his “boyfriend” were true. How could such an attractive, intelligent man fall for a slut like Toshiya? I be he’s slept with every employer here.
Anyway, like I was saying before, it was a typical busy day at the office. I straightened my tie and walked into the chaotic area on the seventh floor. Waving to the usual people at the water cooler, I finally made it to my own territory.
I turned my computer on and began flipping through the stacks of paper. Everything looked good until I found something out of place.
“Damn,” I grumble under my breath, peering over at the closed door. I looked back down at the misplaced papers and groaned at the name printed on it.
I stood up from my seat and abandoned my desk. As I neared the closed door, I could hear the soft moans of the secretary. I paused in front the door and stared at the grayish silver name plate, reading ‘Asagi’. Out of all the people in the office, why did I have to get his papers?
After cringing at the younger man’s quiet begging, I knocked on the wooden surface and looked off to the side as I wait. I bit my lip, feeling slightly nervous for some reason. I always seemed to feel like this when I had to have some kind of personal contact with him.
Finally, the door opened and the older man poked his head out with a slightly irritated expression which made me more nervous.
“What is it?” Asagi asked, getting right to it.
I looked at him for a bit, opening my mouth to say something. “I…I…” I stammered. I glanced at the papers and then at him. Without another word, I lifted the papers and quickly handed them to the other.
He quirked a brow, took the papers, and scanned over the words. “Arigato,” he said, nodding a bit. Soon, he disappeared behind the closed door again and I was left outside, feeling dumb.
Several hours of hard work and self loathing at my desk, I dragged up the stairs of my apartment and walked through door #217.
“Karyu,” my roommate greeted with a pleasant smile, “How was work?”
I put down my brief case next to the dingy green couch and plopped down with a sigh. “Oh, the usual.”
“Froze up again?” he asked.
“Why does this keep happening to me, Shinji-kun?” I groaned, slumping slowly in my seat.
“Hmm…maybe because you like him and you want him for yourself,” he answered.
“Heh! Like I would ever fall for a guy like him. He already has someone.”
“Oh yeah~ That bimbo secretary you always complain about. You could totally steal him,” he said confidently.
“Why would I want to steal him?” I laughed, looking at the other as he set the table.
“Like I said before, you like him,” Shinji grinned.
“You always say that.”
“Only because it’s true. Honestly, every night you come home, complain about how your boss overworks you, then you talk about some random gossip going around the office, and finally you ramble on and on about Asagi and Toshiya,” he explained.
“I do not,” I defended with a light laugh. “Just because I complain about how slutty Toshiya is and that Asagi deserves much better, doesn’t mean I like him.”
“Sure~ What about yesterday when you told me about Asagi’s ‘gorgeous’ greenish blue eyes?’
“They’re actually dark brown, sometimes they’re red. But he only wears his contacts on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” I corrected.
“See! My point,” Shinji exclaimed.
“Nani? What are you talking about?” I raised a brow.
“You know every detail about Asagi’s eyes, which proves more that you want him.”
“Whatever.” I shrugged and stood up, heading to my room.
“Don’t you want dinner?”
“No thanks, I’m not hungry,” I called out, standing in front of my full length mirror.
Unbuttoning my shirt, I sighed at my reflection and thought to myself, ‘Maybe I do like him. Maybe I am jealous of him and Toshiya.” I laughed it off and got ready for bed.
