Frequently Asked Questions
Wow... are you guys serious Mary Sue fans?
Ahahaha, no. Good LORD no. We love them for their lol-factor but apart from that they make our brains bleed.
Oh, thank God. So we're here to do a piss-take?
In a sense. We want the whole Mary Sue concept parodied in general. You know, the overuse of adjectives and the raping of the word "stunning". We do, however, expect people to write well, with good spelling, punctuation and grammar.
What if I really do like Sues?
This place may not be for you. We're not here to bash people who like Sues, but this community is more for having fun with the overly exaggerated perfection of Sues. Feel free to use the tables of prompts though (we'd appreciate a link back if you use one. ;D)
So I can make a Sue for any fandom?
Absolutely.
Can I make an existing character into a Sue?
Yessiree.
Self-inserts?
Yep. ;D And before you ask, yes, crossovers too.
You're good.
It's what I'm here for, baby.
So do I have to post the fics here? Or can I post a link to another journal where I've written the fic?
You can do either. Some people may not want people on their FLists (or their writing journal's FLists) to see these, so you can post them here if you're not comfortable posting elsewhere. Links are fine too, though. :)
And do I have to join
10_suesooc and
10_suestables?
Not at all. The first is just for a bit of fun, and the second is for those who need a place to post tables. Feel free to post them in your own journal should you wish.
What about smut and slash?
It's fine as long as you add a warning somewhere, and add the appropriate rating.
Can I make the fandom characters canon/fanon?
Absolutely. You can make them canon or fanon, we don't really mind.
I see that the claim is of the sue you're going to write, but are all the stories meant to be that sue paired with the same person, or can we pair them with someone else each prompt?
You can do either; in the claim form option Pairing/General you can choose "general" if you want to write the Sue with many characters, or you can specify a pairing if you want to stick just to said pairing.
The claim post states that we should post our table before claiming, but the table community demonstrates a post that shows the tag; did you want us to look at your tag format and come up with our own or was that supposed to be edited in after the claim is accepted?
You can edit the post afterwards to add the tag. :3
EDIT: You can even omit that bit entirely if you so choose, we just thought it would be handy to have it there.
I'm assuming the OC claims are the ones where we name the sue, and the Fandom claims are when the sue is a canon character.
Bingo.
Just curious but does this comm have a word limit?
Not really. We'd prefer something over at least 100 words on the lower limit but there's no upper limit.
Post here with any questions that you have.
