It seemed like an innocent enough girls' night out: Edy, Alicia, Rosie, and Dallas would get together for a night of poker. They weren't planning on using any real money, of course. Rosie had to save hers for the next time she went food shopping, and Alicia needed to keep her money for Welkin's birthday present. After the first hand was dealt, Dallas found herself on the low end of the winning hands scale, with only a pair of sevens to Rosie's hand of three fives. It was at that point they all realized they would be using an "alternative commodity" to keep the game from running into the wee hours of the morning.
"All right, ladies," said Rosie, "lose the shirts."
She pointed her cards toward Dallas, indicating that her low hand meant that she would have to go first. Dallas didn't appear to have any problem unfastening the top two buttons of her blouse, but Edy called out to her before she could remove the third.
"Hey! What are you doing? You can't go on doing that unless I-"
Alicia and Rosie grinned at Edy, picking up on the statement, from which she quickly backed off.
"Uh, nothing," she said.
"Nothing, huh?" asked Rosie. "Well, since you were so quick to jump to her defense, you've gotta pay a penalty."
Edy sighed and slowly removed her sweater, to the other girls' mild amusement.
"Miss Alicia," said Dallas, "why aren't you taking off your shirt? Technically, you lost, too."
"I didn't think I'd win this round," said Alicia, laying out her cards in front of everyone and revealing a trio of eights.
"Aw, you were bluffing, weren't you?" asked Edy.
Alicia shook her head. "Of course not. It's just one of those things you could never be sure of, you know? I was just being cautious."
"Look on the bright side, Edy," said Dallas. "At least now, we'll still technically be 'together'."
She briefly flashed her queen of hearts toward Edy with a knowing wink before Alicia took the cards from them to deal for the next hand.
