Just a few hundred more yards to camp, Dallas thought to herself. She didn't know how long it would take for the medic to arrive, but she didn't want to risk leaving Edy out in the open for the Imperials to strike again. When Edy came to, she found herself being carried over Dallas' shoulders across the cold pavement.
"How are you feeling?" Dallas asked.
"A little woozy," Edy moaned. "The ragnite helped a little bit, though. Thank you."
"I was worried about you. I thought you were going to die out there."
"I'm worried about you, too. I mean...you don't need to carry me all the way back to base camp. I can still walk on my own."
"It's okay," said Dallas, her breath now laboring from the stress of carrying a fully-grown woman on her back. "I've always wanted to do something like this, anyway."
"Like what?"
"You know...be the knight in shining armor, the one who saves the princess and saves the day."
Edy wanted to giggle, but she couldn't take her mind off the pain of being hit by grenade shrapnel. Still, she was glad someone came to her aid in time. A few seconds too late, and there wouldn't have been a princess to rescue.
