Oh dear, almost a year since I've posted here.

I'm not gonna lie, my favorite part of the "threaded discussion on Dreamwidth!!!" push in Les Mis fandom is that I can subscribe to so many more people than I can on Tumblr. (Yeah, I'm still in the LJ-acquired habit of needing to backread my dash to the point where I left off last time, which severely limits how many people I can follow.) Threaded ( Read more... )

" I'm still in the LJ-acquired habit of needing to backread my dash to the point where I left off last time" - wait, not everyone does that?

APPARENTLY NOT which I find bizarre but which explains so, so much about Tumblr.

I'm trying to break the habit of backreading my dash. There just isn't time to go back through it all. And then I end spending too much time there. All why I'm on a brief hiatus at the moment. I need to get some other things done in live.

But my Tumblr is mostly Les Mis with a couple other musicals thrown in here and there. I think I'm 50-60% Les Mis, and 30-40% other shows and 10% other stuff.

Oh. That does explain how Tumblr can even work. I do Twitter wrong, too, what with the same habit, but if you don't backread, you miss important stuff, like where actors are going to be.

I've decided I'm just going to embrace being old and also accept that my primary fandom appears to be DC theatre, because that's where all my time goes anyway. LM has just gone other places without me.

Yes. I don't know how people manage Tumblr except as a nice extra, but people do. :-)

(Also, hai: for some reason I was thinking about you yesterday - I was remembering your Weeping Angel/Jack fic, not scarily thinking about you, I mean - and thinking it had been a long while & hoped you were okay... and here you are.)

Keeping a really small follow list and dragging people into chat to actually get to know them, mostly. (These days I have endless chatlogs of meta discussion. Less convenient than threaded comments but easier than trying to transplant all my friends to lj/dw, especially the younger ones who find them "confusing.")
