hi :-)

check out the user info page of the community. there are several links to great charities there. you can just click on them and check out their websites.
what i would do first is determine what type of causes you feel most passionate about helping. (as in humanitarian charities like "unicef" or "food not bombs" or animal charities like "farm sanctuary" or "the humane society" or educational charities like "dollars for scholars") you can champion one cause or divide your resources among two or three.
once you are interested in a certain charity organization, i also recommend looking at sites like "guide star" and "charity navigator" to make sure they are legitimate and that they use their money wisely.

Besides looking online and to places around the world, look close to home too. I give to the Wisconsin Center For Academically Talented Youth, which has helped my friends and I immensely for the past decade and a half. Perhaps there's a Nature Conservancy protected area near your home or a youth center that you could volunteer at. I feel better backing up my money with action.
