The sun rises, and the lake is empty.
Standing on the beach, watching the sunset.
“You’re going to be a big brother.”
Not sure how to react, Itachi only stares out at the water, unblinking.
Sitting, watching Sasuke play, Itachi decides that maybe a little brother isn’t such a bad thing after all.
Alone, Sasuke practices, until he hurts. His mouth, his body, everywhere. But he has it. He has it.
Along again, but joyless this time, Sasuke stands, looking out at the lake. No family, no clan, no Itachi. The worlds has fallen apart. his eyes meet a pair of blue ones, and somehow this only makes him angrier.
Itachi views the ruin of Konoha, takes in the destruction of this town that meant so much and so little to him. He feels eyes boring into his back, but he ignores them.
Together they stand, isolated now, but no longer alone. Hand in hand, they are ready to face the consequences of this.
