Faery Rebels Review

Jun 01, 2013 15:41

So, so, so. This is a somewhat rambly, spoilery review of Faery Rebels Spell Hunter and Wayfarer. Basically, just looking to fangirl while waiting to read Arrow, which we actually bought because the library doesn’t have it at all. Even the interlibrary loans where we’ve gotten several other books. So, we must really like it to spend money on it.

Anyway, on to the review .... )

book reviews, book recommendations, faery rebels, characters

Yay!! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed Faery Rebels as well! I agree with every thing you said about the books. I'm also happy that Paul didn't choose to have his legs fixed with magic. I think what happened to him though was an accident, right? Lol, and I think Peri would be extremely protective of Linden if Rob tries to ask her out. XD She'd be out with her gun!

And yes, Peri gets stabbed in the next book, but don't worry, because Paul avenges her! Mwahaha, one of my favourite scenes ever.

Thanks for the rec! It's a really fun read! Yeah, I think it was an accident, but sometimes books just let magic fix everything, and so there is no real consequences. It wasn't Paul's fault per se, but he can't just go around magicing away whatever he doesn't like in his life.
I think Rob had better watch his back if he asks Linden out. Peri will probably be sitting outside waiting for them when they try to come home, and if they're even one minute late, Rob's gonna be sorry. Actually, I think Paul would talk her into being calmer about it ..... he might at least be able to talk her out of taking the gun out!! :)

Ooh, I love when she's all "I'm buyin' an airplane ticket!" She's spunky - I think that's the perfect word for her. ANd I love seeing her all grown up and functioning in the world. SOmetimes, characters get paired up at the end of a series, and they ride off into the sunset, and live happily ever after, which is all well and good, but you really miss out on seeing them work things out.

More later, I have to run....

Great word for Peri, Books! She is spunky. It's fun to see her adjusting to the human world. And to see her through Timothy's eyes, too. Like he thought, "for an intelligent woman, there were some surprising gaps in her knowledge," 'cuz she didn't know what a suspension was. But she really is adjusting, and could probably pass pretty well if she wanted to. She just doesn't see any need to.

I agree, it is good to see them living normally. I think sometimes that's one of my biggest complaints about books. They are so focused on the go, go action, that the little everyday things get passed over. It's nice to see them living a day to day life, even if it was just for one day before Timothy and Linden brought the Empress down on everybody's heads. I think books should focus more on the working things out instead of just the riding off into the sunset, but that's another discussion .....

What I was going to write about next was Rob, and his and LInden's poor fledgling romance, which will probably involve ROb being terrorized by Peri XD I think Linden is really in a better spot than the other faeries...She not only has 2 foster mother, she has a foster father in Paul, so she's that much more used to male company, even if she still doesn'tknow that she oughtn't throw herself at guys XD

That's a great point about Linden having a foster father in Paul. I think he would be happy to be asked for Linden's hand in marriage - I think we just have to wonder what Peri will think of Paul getting to have that role .... I think Paul would be very wise to make Rob ask Peri anyway .... OR could you imagine Rob having to face all three of them at once just to be able to ask Linden to marry him?????

However, I don't think Paul has been a big influence on teaching her how to behave in male company. Probably 'cuz he's more of a father to her, it's OK if she throws herself at him, but not other guys. But now that lots of guys have shown up in the Oak, everyone's going to have to learn about it, 'cuz I think there's going to be lots of crushes going round and round at first, especially because of the novelty of it all.
