I'm helping two fellow second-year ME students for ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)improve/build/assemble a trebuchet that was already built three years ago but failed (it suffered an unrepairable crack in the swinging arm, partially due to a knot in the wood), so earlier this afternoon we were putting it together for testing an' all, shooting pine cones fail-distances away. Well, the first time we were using a counterweight of only 50 pounds, so it wasn't bound to go too far.
So yeah! We were taking the thing apart so we could switch some parts around and then move it down by the lagoon so we could shoot stuff into the water without fear of potential victims. I was helping moving the weights out of the way while two of the guys were handling the arm. Apparently one of the guys thought the other was holding onto the arm and so he let go. The long side of the arm swung down and hit me square on the head while I was carrying a 25-pound lifting weight.
So the first-year MEs went to get me ice using one of the second-years' beanie and I had a beanie of ice sittin' on my head the rest of the time. I mean, at first it was just numb and kinda tingly, but now that I've come back to the apartment without having ice on my head since I left, it's become an annoying evil headache. I don't think I have a concussion though. The guys gave me a memory test, having me remember "lilies," something else, and "communism."
Huh. I forgot what the second part was. It was a word that also started with an 'l'. But still, at the time I still had remembered what the words are, so no concussion I think! 8Db
