King Elizabeth

There is an Eddie Izzard routine about how absurd the old practice of having women take on their husband’s last name is, especially the bit where they are being referred to as Mrs. John Smith. The woman is dissolved into the man. To point out the absurdity he suggests that when the woman is the more powerful public figure, then the man ( Read more... )

oh I hear you!

My now ex and I were involved for many years in several of the same magical groups. Mostly people confused our names, attributed opinions of one of us to the other, and assumed telling one of us something meant the other would automatically have the same opinion.

Hey Prince Stephen...That has a nice ring to it!

I think it's enough for Prince Philip's huge ego to be a "Prince Consort". I'm sure he would certainly level anyone who would dare call him "King Elizabeth"...LOL!

As such, your royal scientific prince consort of Queen Anaar (hope she does cast a bad spell on me!), you are indeed an individual unto yourself, and I believe you do show that more...BTW: What are you cooking Anaar for dinner tonight?

In fun...

I've always liked the sound of Prince Consort. But wouldn't it be Dr. Prince Consort in this case?

I've been there. It's frustrating.

For what it's worth - I've been reading you on your own merits for well over a year now. I particularly respect the work you have done on your own for Cora. And until today, I had no idea you were Anaar's partner. ;-)

it is a trifle embarrassing to hear ron referred to as "mr. veedub" by someone who doesn't know his last name's miller.

but there's a real advantage in fending off spam phone calls: anyone who asks for "mrs. miller" or "mr. walker" gets told that there's nobody by that name here.

woosang has kept her last name, so when I answer the home phone and they ask for "Mr Kirk", I tell them there is no such person and hang up.
