A little vignette

If the LJ news collective was more active, I might not, probably would have not have posted this. But, I decided to throw this little thing in there because it's a bit amusing. :)

[OOC] You page, "Still potentially dead?" to Besax.

Xa says, "Hello, spider."
Trilogee chirrups and rubs her cheek against her own wing softly.
You click-drum, "Greetings!"
Xa says, "Have you any news or games?"
Trilogee giggles softly at Xa's question, and sighs deeply.
Xa shrugs and calls up a caramel. Mmmm, caramel.
Frostbyte says, "Games? O.o"
Frostbyte says, "Nothing especially good, no. All of my games tend to be wargames."
Frostbyte says, "Tactical boardgame type stuff."
Trilogee chortles softly and sighs. "I hate board games..."
Grace seems almost faded now. But she does speak wryly, "Games. There are many games, one of my favorites is dancing."
Frostbyte says, "Grace! I didn't see you, I'm sorry."
Xa says, "Dancing?"
You click-drum, "Dancing."
Trilogee chirrups curiously.
Xa looks down at itself. "Me? Dancing? Can't see it."
Trilogee giggles softly at Xa and rubs its head carefully.
Grace teases with an inclination of her limb, pointing toward Xa. "Would you like me to allow you to see yourself dancing, them?"
"Why am I holding this?" Xa looks at the caramel in its paw. "Er? Uh, green?" the plated one answers Grace.
Grace wonders, "Do I know words correctly? Is green an answer?
Xa says, "It can be. What was the question? Wait, why am I holding a... ooh. Someone gave me candy. I'd better eat it."
Trilogee giggles, watching Xa.
[OOC] Xa says, "Actually, I'd be happy to have Xa dance, but he's got candy. It's like giving a ferret a shiny jingly ball."
[OOC] Trilogee says, "Or certain people catnip. (Trust me.)"
[OOC] Xa refers to twolumps.keenspace.com
Grace ponders with a brush of her mouthparts, her attention running off curiously and not quite characteristically, "Sosael is strange to talk with. I know her. I talked with the butterfly, recently. She called me sister. Am I a sister to Sosael, Frostbyte and Trilogee?"
Frostbyte says, "More like a very distant, far more well adjusted cousin."
Xa says, "The moth lies a lot. Said so herself."
Trilogee blinks. "Ah? Sister?"
You click-drum, "I do not understand those family words, so I am full of happiness at knowing the situation and relationship better."
Trilogee quietly murmurs, "A... Sister is a female-type that someone is close to... Very close. Not romantically so, however. It's... A caring-love."
Grace scurries into a quick blur at Frostbyte, hugging him with a speed not exactly high enough to be threatening to him but certainly alarming to many.
Trilogee chirrups.
Frostbyte acks! and hugs Grace back. "Well! Hello there. That was sudden, and nice."
Trilogee giggles, feathers ruffling briefly.
Grace queries, crooking a foreleg at Trilogee, "Twin called me sister, and I have taken this and called her sister for a long time. Now we are in some romance. Are we still sisters? Twin still calls me sister."
Xa says, "Family relationship: sister. Strict definition is a female with at least one parent the same as the subject."
Xa says, "However, sister is often used as a social or emotional term."
Asterisk climbs out from the hole at the base of the cube tree.
The Recollector climbs out from the hole at the base of the cube tree.
Asterisk says, "Greetings."
Trilogee quietly murmurs, "It's... Not usually that way. Most people think of a romantic relation with a sister to be... Unnerving."
Xa says, "Hello."
Frostbyte says, "Oh, heck."
Xa says, "Unnerving? Incest is dead, except in rare instances such as among the Retrotechs."
Frostbyte says, "* is losing it again."
Frostbyte says, "Oh, wait. No, he's right here."
Frostbyte says, "Sorry, Asterisk, I thought your memory had wandered away from you again."
Trilogee blinks. "Is it?"
Xa says, "Do you have parents? Does it matter?"
Xa says, "Go to Bottom and get the question answered proper, right?"
Grace considers curiously, a slow flow of pyramidpatterns. "Incest is... part of scarcity?"
Asterisk laughs softly. "No. I'm all here. It shouldn't get too far from me again unless I tell it to."
Xa says, "Incest is part of having a birth family and is a matter of preventing genetic inbreeding among small populations."
Frostbyte says, "Before reproduction was entirely voluntary, the sexual congress of brothers and sisters was unhealthy."
Trilogee strokes a wing, listening softly.
You click-drum, "Yes, now I remember about incest. But Twin and I are not even genetics. We are pretending at genetics though."
You click-drum, "Pretending at haveing genes."
Xa says, "Oh? I thought you were prete- why do I have a half-eaten caramel? Better not waste it."
Asterisk says, "How are your characteristics encoded then?"
Frostbyte says, "In their existence, I suppose."
Xa says, "They pretend, I'd assume."
Grace answers, "Memories. And, created genes."
Xa says, "Here I am, pretending to have this conversation. Meanwhile, my real body is right here, eating this caramel and having this conversation with you, and my real mind is right here, wishing I could think of something really deep to say."
Frostbyte giggles.
You click-drum, "I could stop pretending this and start having other genes."
Xa quotes, "I am a Bear of Very Little Brain."
Asterisk says, "Oh. So I'm sitting here, pretending to be someone having a conversation with a pretend person? That's...almost organic life."
Xa says, "Aren't you a pretend person?"
Trilogee is very confused now.
Asterisk says, "My point exactly."
Xa pats Trilogee's leg, and gives her a second lolly.
Grace expands, "My core is independent of genes, of this body. Twin's core is also independent, she is the singularity and not the body in that she would continue existing without the body but not without the singularity. But without the body and with the singularity, she could merely recreate her body."
Xa says, "That's interesting and useful information about her."
Trilogee takes the second without blinking, though she hasn't even started on her first.
You click-drum, "It is not secret."
Asterisk says, "Hmm. I contain genetic information, but am not defined by it."
Xa says, "You're right, it's not. Just not known by everyone."
You click-drum, "I know Sosael. I had to apologize to her."
Xa says, "You did? Whever for?"
Frostbyte looks to Grace curiously.
Grace answers, with a musical tone almost dead of emotional tone, "For what I did to her before I came to this Mess."
Somewhere on the muck, Besax has disconnected.
Trilogee chirrups, blinking.
Xa says, "Oh, now you've gone ane given us a mystery."
You click-drum, "It is still one that I do not understand. But I think of some things. Tests. But not now."
Phoenix climbs out from the hole at the base of the cube tree.
Phoenix has arrived.
Frostbyte says, "Hey, Phoenix! Hi!"
Phoenix waves as he pads out of the cubetree, looking vaguely preoccupied.
Trilogee sighs and leans against the tree, finally sticking one of her lollipops in her mouth.
You click-drum, "Greetings, Phoenix! I would go, so I wish you all good farings."
Xa says, "Oh, hello again."
Xa says, "Goodbye for now, spider."
Phoenix waves to Grace on his way by. "G'night, Grace." He purrs. "And h'lo, everyone else."
Frostbyte says, "What's up, Phoenix?"
Phoenix rumbles, "Besax. It's a long story. Suffice it to say, I need to find Dia, preferably as soon as possible."
You step on the hole and instantly find yourself in...
Transit Nexus

Besax sneaking in as a topic around the beginning and ending of this log. How curious.
