History:

EARLY LIFE:

Megumi was born to Yasuda Ayaka and Kenichi on June 25, 1990. She had one sibling, Kamui Gakupo, who had a different father and was therefore only half-related. For the short time that Megumi was with her little family, she was a very happy child; but the peace and happiness of that small family was shattered about a week after her first birthday. Both of her parents were mutants. Anti-mutant individuals in the area they lived in found this out, and broke into their house one day, with the intent to rid the community of mutants. Ayaka told Gakupo to take his sister and run, which is what he did. Both siblings never saw Ayaka or Kenichi again. The two of them were murdered by the anti-mutant party that had attacked.

Four year old Gakupo did what he could to make sure he and his baby sister survived, giving any food he found to his sister and putting her priorities over his own. The strain on his body from both exhaustion and hunger eventually took its' toll on him, however, and he passed out on the side of the road a couple days later, his little sister in his arms, and extremely weak.

Fortunately for the two of them, there was a buddhist temple not too far from where they collapsed, and they found the two on the side of the road, took them in, and nursed them back to health. They asked Gakupo questions about why he was alone with his baby sister, and he answered that the bad men had broke into their house, and that their mother had sent them away. He gave his name and his sister's. It was then that Megumi started taking her brother's surname, rather than the Yasuda surname, as it was easier to keep track of them as siblings if they shared a surname. From then on, Gakupo and Megumi lived at the buddhist monestary, being cared for among several other orphaned children by the monks who lived there.

THE MONESTARY:

As it would turn out, the Buddhist Monestary that had taken Gakupo and Megumi in was also harboring mutant orphan children in addition to just normal orphaned children. The monestary's ways taught the children to love and accept each other, whether they were different or the same, and also helped train a few of the mutant children in their abilities. Gakupo's mutant abilities started ton develop rather early in his life, much quicker than Megumi's did, and so he was often taken for training, leaving Megumi alone a lot of the time for several hours.

As Megumi grew, she clung more to her big brother than she did to anybody else. She was a lively, curious child, and that got her into trouble a lot. A lot of the other girls her age didn't want to play with her, because she was never into the same things they were and just continued getting into trouble. Gakupo was the only one who really understood her, and because of that, she mainly stayed with him. As Gakupo grew older himself, he befriended and became a sort of 'mentor' to a boy named Maeno Kenji. The two became close enough for Megumi to consider him another older brother. For the most part, the three of them were inseperable, protecting and supporting each other through anything and everything.

When Megumi was seven years old, she had her first encounter with her big brother's mutant ability. Tanabata was happening, and a festival was in town. The monestary decided to take the children to the festival. As usual, Gakupo, Megumi, and Kenji all stayed together, but at some point, Megumi wandered off. When Gakupo realized his little sister was missing, he panicked, and he and Kenji set out to look for the missing little girl. Gakupo found her, but just as he found her, his mutation allowed him to see that a spirit was about to attack her. Gakupo rushed forward and knocked Megumi out of the way, taking the beating from the angry spirit himself. Megumi watched, held back by Kenji and screaming, crying, asking her big brother repeatedly if he was okay. Gakupo did in fact make it out of that ordeal just fine, but he was in bed for a long time. He did explain what happened to Megumi, who then started to blame herself for her brother getting hurt. It didn't last long, however; once both Gakupo and Kenji found out what was bothering the little girl, they told her it wasn't her fault, and that the spirit was just angry and would have attacked anybody if they got in its' way. After several months of guilt over that ordeal, Megumi got over it and continued on life as usual. Gakupo and Kenji started dating sometime during those several months, and Megumi was extremely happy for them, and supported her big brothers.

Five years after that ordeal, Megumi would be torn from her family again. Another anti-mutant group found out that the monestary had been harboring mutant children, and, in order to "get rid of the threat," they organized an attack. The monestary had never anticipated anything like this happening, and because of that, there was no real defense or escape plan. Many children and monks died during that attack, Kenji being among them, dying in Gakupo's arms. At some point during the ordeal, Megumi had gotten separated from her brother, and was stuck inside of the temple, trying to avoid death while looking for her older brother. She was eventually cornered by one of the murderers, and then beaten until she was unconscious, but the man who had beaten her, while cruel, was not cruel enough to end the life of the twelve-year-old girl. He left her, as she was no longer a threat.

Gakupo had also managed to keep alive, but between his inability to find his sister and the death of Kenji, he wandered off in shock.

Megumi was found by paramedics, barely alive, and rushed to a hospital with a few of the other surviving children and monks of the monestary. While recovering, Megumi continued to ask where her big brother was, if he was in the hospital as well, but none of the doctors or nurses could tell her. This led Megumi to believe that her brother may have been dead, but even despite how easy it was to think that Gakupo was among the deceased, Megumi couldn't believe that he was dead. She felt that he was alive somewhere. When police questioned her about the attack, though, she tried to ask if they could help her find her brother, and they told her that they were focusing on this case for the time being, believing that the brother that the girl had been asking for was among the dead.

Once Megumi had recovered from her near-death experience, she was sent to live with a foster family.

FOSTER FAMILY AND SCHOOL:

For the next several years, Megumi (or, Gumi, as she had come to be known as during her time at the monestary) lived with her foster parents and three other foster children. Her foster parents, Sugita Ryuichi and Yua, were fortunately very kind to her, and were willing to pay special attention to her due to the tragedy she had experienced not too long before. Gumi mostly kept to herself even despite the attention. The family was wealthy enough to afford separate rooms for the children they housed, and so when Gumi wasn't having dinner or being forced to spend family time with her foster mother and father, and her three younger foster siblings (Shiori, the only other girl and the youngest, and Daiki and Katashi, the two middle boys), she holed herself up in her room, doing whatever she could on the computer in order to distract herself from the world. She generally got along well enough with her younger 'siblings,' but she didn't really consider them family. Ryuichi and Yua noticed how detached Gumi was from everyone else, but they didn't press the matter. They only did what they could to help her get along in life. Gumi was grateful for that.

Gumi began to attend school shortly after being taken in by her foster parents, and for a long time, she was a loner. She only started to make friends about a half a year after she began to attend school in Tokyo, her best friend being a boy by the name of Genji Kazuo. The two remained close, and eventually, in her first year of high school, the two started dating.

The relationship itself was wonderful ... for all of about half a year. Kazuo treated her wonderfully, and she knew she should have been grateful to have such a wonderful boyfriend ... but for some reason, after half a year of dating Kazuo, she began to feel like she was getting way too much of a good thing. The relationship was becoming dull and boring, and a little uncomfortable. But she was afraid of breaking up with him, because she didn't want to risk losing him as a friend, too. It started becoming more apparent as the days went by that Gumi just wasn't as interested in him anymore as she used to be, but neither Gumi nor Kazuo wanted to speak up and admit it was over.

It was during this time that Gumi discovered her mutation. Or, what she thought was just insanity setting in at the time.

A toaster became defunt, and her foster parents were all but ready to throw it out, but Gumi, who had spent a lot of time tinkering with mechanics (it was a hobby, really. something she found could keep her mind off of stupid things), asked to see if she could take a shot at restoring the toaster to its' former vitality. Her foster parents agreed to this, hoping that she could fix it and save them the money of buying a new one. Gumi took the toaster to her room and sat down at her 'workbench' (half of her computer desk), setting to work at restoring it.

That was when the toaster spoke to her.

At first, Gumi was surprised, but thought that maybe she was hearing things. When it spoke again, though, she thought she might have been going crazy. Gumi had always had the idea that she was at least some kind of crazy, though, and just decided that going along with it was better than ignoring it. The toaster told her exactly what was wrong with him, and Gumi was able to easily pinpoint the problem from there and fix the toaster, much to the happiness of her foster family, who was able to continue using their toaster and not have to buy a new one.

That very night, her cell phone started talking to her. Gumi continued to play along, and in the process of playing along, she ended up talking to her cell phone about all of the relationship problems she'd been having. She stayed up half the night speaking to her cell phone, who she eventually named Airi.

The next day, she and Kazuo talked. They decided that being friends was probably the best way to go at that point, and broke off the relationship. Gumi had never felt more relieved.

From that point on, school and life were fairly simple. You know, aside from the belief that she was going crazy because technology could talk to her. It did help to know that she was never really alone, though, so she didn't mind it.

Shortly before Gumi graduated high school, she had secured a job in a technology repair shop, her unique ability to be able to pinpoint the problem with technology helping her immensely with that. Because she was in such high demand, she made quite a bit of money, and was able to move out of her foster parents' home and into her own apartment a few months before turning eighteen years old.

Gumi's entire eighteenth year was fairly hectic, what with work and bills and the like, but it wasn't all too bad overall. As the anniversary of the monestary attack drew near, though, Gumi's memories of the event began to bombard her. There was still that one unanswered question: did Kamui Gakupo, her older brother, survive those attacks? Gumi wanted to do everything in her power to know. She had dabbled a little bit in hacking when she was in high school, hacking into little things like the school records if she felt like it. Now, she was aiming for something much bigger, and much more secure: The police database. She wanted to find the list of the deceased from the attacks.

Gumi hacked into the database finally on the anniversary of the attack. She was able to locate the list of the deceased relatively quickly, and read it. As she looked it over, her heart broke with every name she recognized, but her heart lifted once more as she came to the realization that the name 'Kamui Gakupo' was not among the listed.

So there was hope. There was a chance that her beloved older brother was still alive. Now it was just a matter of finding out where in the world he was.

Luckily, Gumi didn't have to wait long: an up and coming band known as 'VOCALOID' was touring Japan, and among the members of the band was one Kamui Gakupo.

VOCALOID:

From the time Gumi had found out where her brother had been this entire time, Gumi had been making plans to find a way to approach him and let him know that she was, in fact, still alive and kicking. She bought tickets to VOCALOID's next Tokyo show, and she attended the show, more proud than she had ever been of her big brother as he was up on stage with the rest of the band. Of course, the real trouble began when she tried to sneak backstage to meet with her brother.

The first time she tried, she was unsuccessful. Security guards caught her. But as she was being dragged out of the site, Gumi caught sight of Gaku and called out to him, asking him to stop, shouting to him that his younger sister was alive. She even called him 'Onii-sama,' which was how she referred to him back at the monestary, and how she had always referred to him. Gakupo had only froze and stared at the girl claiming to be his younger sister, ultimately doing nothing to stop the guards who were dragging her out.

Gumi kept trying. It was the third try when she finally was able to get him to stop the guards from taking her. He took her somewhere private, and, after much talking, Gaku finally realized that Gumi was telling the truth, and that his little sister was, in fact, the girl standing before him. A tearful reunion and lots of hugging later, and Gaku and Gumi began to catch up.

Their time would have been short-lived; VOCALOID was very busy, and was constantly touring. Gumi and Gaku didn't want to be apart from each other again, though, and so Gaku spoke to his manager, saying that if he didn't allow his little sister to tour with them, he wouldn't be a part of the band anymore. Luckily, the manager understood the situation, and Gumi was allowed to come with. Gumi quit her job, paid the lease break fee on her apartment, and dropped everything to go touring with her brother and the band. At first, she felt a bit out of place. She didn't really do much else but sit around and watch them practice, and occasionally do things for the band members and the manager if she was asked to. If something technological went out of wack, she offered to fix it, and she fixed it. It wasn't until she was caught singing along with some of the songs during rehearsals that her own vocal talent was discovered; a 'happy accident,' as it were. From that point on, she was trained to be a performer, and joined the band only after a few months.

Over the next year, Gumi performed alongside VOCALOID, becoming quite popular among the group. She made really good friends with her bandmates, and became closest to Megurine Luka and Masuda Lily.

Her time with VOCALOID was cut short, however, when, at a concert, a riot broke out when their lead member, Hatsune Miku, started to sing one of her most popular songs, entitled Love is War. It was made clear to the band then that Miku's popularity, while she was talented, was also partly based on a mutation she had developed; their lead bandmate was a mutant.

XAVIER'S SCHOOL FOR GIFTED YOUNGSTERS:

After that, VOCALOID went on hiatus. Miku decided to learn how to control her mutation better, and went to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Afterward, one by one, the band started to come out and admit that they were mutants. And, one by one, they went to join Miku at Xavier's, whether it be by way of staff or student. Meiko, Kaito, Rin and Len, and finally, Gakupo went to New York in order to stay together.

Gumi didn't hesitate to try and find a job at the institute after learning that her brother was going. It took her a little bit longer than she expected, but she was finally hired on as tech maintenence. She moved to New York, and lived at the institute along with her family. She was happy there. She had her family, or, well, most of them, and she was finally able to do something with technology again. Shortly after she came to the institute, she realized with some help from her brother that the fact that technology was talking to her didn't mean she was going completely crazy (only a little crazy), but that she was a mutant, like everybody else.

The Xavier Institute had an excess of advanced technology, however, and the sheer amount of tech in the school itself made Gumi into a bit of an insomniac due to the fact that there were several voices in her head talking all at once. She eventually overcame that, and life at the institute was fairly normal ... or, as normal as could be at a mutant school. Gumi made a few friends among the staff, and even among the students. Her family from VOCALOID were people she was close with, but along the way she also became especially close with others at the institute as well. In particular, she became close with a boy named Derrick Williams, who she came to see as a younger brother, and a few staff members, such as Kaito Wanijima, and Satoshi "Reki" Fujio. After she had spent a fair amount of time at the institute, she was also reunited with Lily, and the two proceeded to continue harrassing each other. Lovingly, of course. She also became a mother .... to a baby printer. Reki's printer considered her a mother figure of sorts, and also considered Reki a father figure. Gumi fell in love with the baby printer, and Reki named the printer Aiko.

In time, Gumi became a mentor (and sort of a pseudo-mentor to Derrick), and a homeroom teacher, teaching a homeroom class alongside her older brother. What did she teach? Absolutely nothing, of course. She just goofed off.

The most notable thing that happened during the time Gumi spend at the institute was that she was involved in a mission to stop a man from destroying the world. He almost succeeded. During that whole event, Gumi was thrown into a nexus that showed her the life she really wanted; in that life, she was the biological mother to Aiko. She was married, though it was unclear who she was married to. Her mother and father were alive, and along with Gaku, they were a happy family. The illusion was so wonderful that she didn't want to leave. Fortunately for her, Reki came and pulled her out of the illusion by convincing her it wasn't real. For a while afterward, Gumi was overcome with depression, and it caused her to withdraw herself more than she ever had before.

Unfortunately, after half a year at the institute, everybody decided to go their separate ways. Gaku and Gumi, upon meeting up at the instutite once again, had agreed that if one of them wanted to leave, the other would follow. The day finally came when they left the institute. Gumi wanted to remain close to Reki, who had gone back to work at his former job in Tokyo. So, Gumi and Gaku returned to Tokyo. She offered Lily a place to stay as well, and it didn't take too long for Lily to take her up on that offer. From then on, they all lived in what could possibly be described as the most insanity one house could possibly hold, especially with Lily and Gumi bickering and roughhousing with each other all the time.

Their adventures were far from over, however ... and all because Lily just had to use her goddamn petrification ray gun to blast a warp hole. She and Lily both got sucked in and now they are in a place known as the Dressing Room.

Goddammit Lills. >:O

Personality:
It's hard to believe that Gumi was raised for most of her life by monks, considering what a bundle of energy she is. She's easily excitable, stubborn, hyper, loud, and definitely makes her presence known. Yes, indeed. Kamui Megumi is most definitely a bundle of energy, and it's rare to see her in any sort of state of despair.

However, it does exist, even if it IS a rarity. And when she DOES become that way, the symptoms are as thus:

Okay, seriously, when she's sad, it's pretty obvious. She's oddly quiet, appears to be thinking a lot of the time, unable to focus on whatever she's doing, unable to focus on conversation, that sort of thing. And then when she's asked if she's all right, she flat out denies it until she can't anymore. UNLESS, of course, she feels the need to say exactly what's wrong right then and there ... which usually only happens if she's angry.

There are things that Gumi won't talk about. She won't talk a lot about her past with anyone other than Gaku. If anyone else asks? She will clam up. Or get some sort of attitude and say that it's none of their business, they weren't there, it's done and over with, focus on the present, etc.

Oh, and. Gumi does have a small temper. But that's ALSO rarely seen, and for the most part, it's rather harmless. But get her absolutely livid, and she will plot ways to get back at you if it's the last thing she does.

Seeing as she was separated from her beloved Onii-sama for so long, Gumi has become rather overprotective of him, and doesn't like when he's wronged, or when he's hurt. For her, one of the most important things in her life is her older brother, and she's intent on making sure he's happy, safe, and that all things good happen to him. And if things don't happen the way he hopes? She's there to help him through it. While ... well, secretly plotting the demise of whoever wronged him.

Gumi is bisexual, and she is a horrible pervert when she gets to know someone well enough to know how they'll handle it. If she doesn't feel the person on the receiving end of the pervings can handle it well enough, she'll hold back. Anyone else she gets close to, though? Fair game. Prepare to be perved upon. Most frequent victims of her perversions include the individuals known as Lily Masuda and Luka Megurine. She also gets horribly pervy with her brother, but Gaku often pervs back at her, so it's totally mutual there.

Gumi has a love for rabbits and bunnies. She likes them because they share a love of carrots. She has a pet rabbit named Ninjin.

She is also extreeeeemely snarky. It's part of her charm.

Think of Gumi as somewhat of a mad scientist sort of girl. Only, less evil. Though she certainly can be.

Mutation Information:
Gumi seems to have a sort of 'mechanical empathy,' in which she's able to "communicate" with mechanical and elecrtonic objects. This helps in her abilities to fix almost anything that's broken, so long as it's able to still "speak" with her (if there is no possible way to fix it, the object will not attempt to communicate with her at all, such as, if it were something blasted to lots of tiny bits and pieces; it must be at least partially whole in order for her to be able to fix and rebuild). She can easily locate the source of the problem, so long as she's able to be told where it is, and can fix it rather simply, too. The ability to fix it, however, is not part of her mutant ability; she learned how to do that on her own. The ability to "hear" these inanimate objects, however? Is.
