Day five, doing great..
Day five, Saturday 9/15/07
Started the day the same, but a little later since it is a Saturday. ;) Still had to get up at 6:30ish to ditch the laxative tea, but got to crawl back in bed after that. It's a good thing too as my back is killing me in a couple different spots now. Ugh. After that I got up though for good, did the salt water flush and all, made my lemonade after the salt water was out and went about my day.
Noted when I brushed that my teeth are still sensitive (no surprise) and my skin looks better on the whole but I have broke out some on my chin. That could be a side-effect of either the cleanse or the literal hours I've spent on the phone over the last couple days. Had my first weight/size-related evidence that something was happening with my body though when I got dressed and realized I needed to hook my bra on the tightest hook. Shocker, that. So I tried to examine more carefully and I am such a horrible judge of weight loss or gain in a person's appearance but I am reasonably sure that my rolls are actually a little less rolly today. Huh.
Later I was reading testimonials from people who have done this and several indicated a reduction in the appearance of cellulite after the cleanse so of course I had to go run and check. And holy shit, I don't have much cellulite in the first place but enough that I know it is there on my thighs and arse, but I swear to fucking goo, my skin right now is almost smooth, like I could see hardly any cellulite at all where there previously was definitely some. Now I can't claim it is the cleanse itself and not just the fact that I am taking in 2+ gallons of liquid per day, but there is a definite change there regardless.
I did drink a bit less lemonade (only 7 glasses total) and experienced some hunger and a couple random cravings today for protein and then later for something sweet but both were very minor and super easy to ignore. Other than that, again I experienced no more yucky symptoms or anything today and feel a-okay! Lots more energy than earlier in the week too as I am up at 2:00AM typing this for the first time since I started the cleanse.
Spent a while thinking about whether I want to keep on for 10 days or go all crazy and start introducing orange juice on day 6 and maybe actual fruit on day 7 and so on. I feel great and I feel completely confident that I could go 10 days and so wouldn't consider it quitting or a failure to not do a full 10 days, but I'm just not sure I feel it is necessary at this point to keep going so strictly with this. There is a lot of detoxing that can still be done when going on with just raw foods and lots of vitamin c, etc. so I'm leaning heavily towards doing that.
I will admit here though that I am wondering if some part of me is worried that by continuing to not eat, I am just going to perpetuate my problem of not being able to eat in the long run. I don't really think so, but...yeah. There is that part that wonders. I am eager to get on with learning to eat like a normal person. Or something resembling one anyway. I hope that my body has even now already gotten used to taking in calories throughout the day and will crave it once I start introducing other things back into my diet. I am actually really excited at this prospect.
So, I am reserving the final decision about where to go with this until tomorrow after the salt flush, but I am leaning towards bringing in the orange juice. I like to live on the wild side, you know. Overall today, drank slightly less water (1.5 gallons or so) and slightly less lemonade (7 glasses) and just finished my tea a few minutes ago. And with that, I am going to bed. Day five, complete.
