They left out Noel. Noel!

TV Squad counts down the 10 greatest (or TV Squad's opinion of the 10 greatest) West Wing episodes here:

Best West Wing Episodes of All Time

Thoughts? Opinions? You already know what I think -- They left out "Noel," therefore this list is invalid. (However, I will admit that I completely agree with the top three.)

Any list that favors "Shutdown" over "Election Day: Part II" or any of the Debora Cahn episodes has serious issues.

Oh, and in a show of solidarity: They left off "Noel"!

I actually like "Shutdown." It's one of my favorite episodes of season 5. I would've liked to have seen "The Supremes" on the list, though.

"Shutdown" isn't bad. It's one of the best episodes of Season 5. But IMO it is nowhere near one of the 10 best.

Maybe not 10 best, but it would be in my top 20.

Plus, they left out "In The Shadow of Two Gunmen." The two hours I spent watching that episode the first time constitute one of my most rewarding, if not the most rewarding, TV-watching experiences I've had.

Needless to say, I take issue with its exclusion. :)

Oh, that's what they left out! I knew there was a major episode missing...ITSOTG definitely needs to be on this list.

I know best-of lists are inherently subjective. But I'd be surprised if a sampling of 100 hardcore TWW fans produced even a handful lists that included "Shutdown" and excluded "Noel" or ITSOTG.

I doubt you could find ONE list that excluded either Noel or ITSOTG. I'm pretty sure you have to include at least one of those eps or you lose your fangirl/fanboy card. ;-)

(I declare that we can suspend AP style for the purposes of this discussion. :-)

I thought about The Cold for a bit. While that is a much-beloved episode, and a fine one, it lands somewhere in the 11-20 range for me.

Stackhouse is a great choice! There are so many episodes from the first two seasons that could make the cut: Somebody's Going to Emergency; 18th and Potomac; Bartlet's Third State of the Union (either part, really); What Kind of Day Has It Been; Let Bartlet Be Bartlet.

I also really like H.Con 172 from Season 3. Bartlet For America was amazing, of course, but the storyline wasn't resolved there. I think H.Con 172 is underappreciated because while it's quite good, it's an unavoidable letdown after all the brilliance in BFA.

Yeah, The Cold barely made my list...it was a tough call.

I agree about H.Con 172. It's one of those episodes people tend to forget about, but it's very well done. I also love Ways & Means and War Crimes from season 3. Oh, and Guns Not Butter from season 4...and...well, I could go on and on!
