We will be known forever by the tracks we leave. That's a Native American proverb.

No matter what you do, no matter what cares you take... ultimately what leaves a deepest impression in the earth is what remains. It's a pretty concise sentence for a big idea.

[He can't help but feel intrigued by this.]

I guess that's got somethin' to do with people who graduated?

[He guessed. He's sorta a derp.]

Hmmm...

[Yes, just believe that Mac it will make life easier for everyone.]

Also, you know the saying that the internet never forgets? Yes, some people would probably want to forget after prom...

Y-you and me both. I've been looking at the files my predecessor left. I guess he--well I--well he being me but another me, didn't want Rex to be found.

Especially after what happened...

How did you find out about REX?

... A nice lady called Justin Bailey.

But wait, stop there. You being, another you, didn't want REX to be found? That makes no sense.

[She genuinely looks like she is going to cry.]

What about the PAL keys? Do you have those somewhere?

Also, where have you been? I can't pick up on your normal codec frequency anymore. Have you been living off instant ramen in your room?

Oh Otacon...

[Silence from Mei Ling while she just looks at him with a combination of disbelief.]

I don't know where to start. Let me try...

First off, somehow... I'm from the future. You have a kid and she took care of you more than you took care of her, but that's not important. So the idea of you having to hack yourself isn't as crazy as it once was.

And you shouldn't be so cut up every time this happens Otacon! Do you want me to come over and help clean up, make you some eggs and toast and generally kick you out of your moping? I can show you my Mk II, which I made from your designs.

[Her expression softens.]

... Let's just forget REX for a moment and concentrate on getting you functional so that we can plan a course of action.

They're beautiful things, aren't they... thought the keener, heart the stronger. That's another one.

I don't teach English Literature or Poetry though, or anything related to that sort of field. I'm sure whoever teaches it can give you one or a few!
