11/5/08, 10:32 PM Some other people wanted to read this so I made it public... I'm a little nervous because I sort of put myself out there on this one. (Seriously, I used to filter entries with this particular tag, but I think I'm sort of past worrying about that now.) Anyway...

I can't believe so many people can be so backward. o_o

Then again, Britain's a good example: we have 'civil partnerships'. Same benefits as marriage, but the fact that it's not actually a 'marriage' speaks volumes.

The best thing is that some gay rights campaigners complain that civil partnerships are heterophobic. Awesome. <3

On the bright side, our president-elect opposes a constitutional amendment that would make it a federal ban. Anyway, it's not any more constitutional than it was the first time around, when the Supreme Court judges overturned it before. I... have hope, at least. I just... gahhhh. D;

People at school were complaining about how it could become not-illegal everywhere in the country and how that's a bad thing, and they were my friends, and I just felt really disgusted and like I couldn't even talk to my friends. I JUST... WHY IS IT SO BAD TO BE ABLE TO MARRY THE PERSON YOU LOVE REGARDLESS OF GENDER. SDAKLJHF D;

Well, as long as there's hope, right?

I really don't get how some people can still think that way. *shakes head in despair*

I'm so glad Florida passed a law where you have to get a majority of 60% to pass these amendments.

I love this journal entry foreeever~ <333 You basically wrote down everything I ever thought on this issue intelligently and eloquently, whereas I could not because I have always been so baffled as to why this was ever an issue in the first place.

sdjlkfh I've secretly always wanted to write that kind of entry. If only I was courageous enough to make it public instead of friends-locked...! >_>

But, yes, I completely agree. WHY THIS IS EVEN AN ISSUE... confuses me. There are just so many things that actually affect people--all people that we're doing shit about. It drives me crazy. :|

W-was this screened? LJ just told me it was screened and now it isn't anymore? o_o

GOD DAMNIT IT CALIFORNIA WHAT THE FUCK HAPPEND!! D8One thing, those who oppose it because it's labeled 'marriage' and is against gay marriage, ARE YOU FUCKIN SERIOUS?!! I mean it's understandable but still ridiculous now? You don't turn something down just because it's not fuckin worded the way you want it. Marriage is a way to express love and companionship for the life (if possible). And no school advertises gay marriage or anything of that sort, even if they do you go and complain to the school not oppose something assuming they are advertising it ( ... )

YEAH, IT JUST... IT DOESN'T SENSE. D: I'm so disappointed right now, but the gay rights movement is still young and we can push it along inch by inch, if we have to! I just... yeah, I feel like yesterday was a day that allowed me to be full of hope for the future and feel like I could change things. AND I AM GOING TO FUCKING CHANGE THINGS.

ALSO, PRIYANKA FOR PRESIDENT 2032.
