Genre: werewolves.

The baby didn’t have a name. Actually, the baby wasn’t a proper baby, per se, but an hybrid, half human (mutant, actually- werewolf mutant) and half demi-God (Asgardians, werewolf demi-god). But all of this didn’t matter. Only one thing was clear: that the baby was to be saved at all costs.

He still remembered it, the day Moonstar, former team-mates during his brief stunt in X-Force knocked at his door in the middle of the night, wet because of the London rain, carrying an half-unconscious Sinclair and a few months old baby . and it wasn’t just because he had shared the first period of his super-heroic career with the British werewolf, it was more because of Dani; because he didn’t mind Sinclair (although she wasn’t exactly in his top 10) but Dani… Actually, he didn’t like Dani, so stubborn and springhead and judgmental, but he kind of owed her his life, so...

It was a surprise when Dani told him that the baby was Rahne “Holy Virgin” Sinclair’s , but it was a shock the revelation that the baby was completely werewolf- half because of the mother, and half because of the father; it got even worse when she told him that a war was approaching, and that the child was going to be a mean to an end in the hands of the winning side-whatever it could be - so it had to be kept neutral, and, more preferably, on the humans’ side ( Just to ensure humans’ safety, of course). But the biggest trauma of them all was when he almost died when she told him that he had been the one she went to because she actually trusted him…

She didn’t even had the chance to end the sentence that the door was being broken from the outside, and a mass of white fur emerged from the darkness.

While the wolfish creature approached, he cursed himself because of his habit of not wearing guns because he trusted so, so much his mutant power, but, a second later, when he was getting ready to threw few of his hot blades at his adversary, he heard it, gunshots, and then, just a pool of grey-black dust at his feet, where the creature was standing until a moment before.

He turned, and he saw her, standing in her old super-hero costume in all her pride and glory, with a small revolver- a silver gun- small but nevertheless effective, especially in this kind of situation.

He smirked. God, how much he loved that woman…

“Shut up. “ she just told him, caressing the forehead of the crying baby while, at her back, Dani was busy as well Decapitating few  creatures with an Holy blade, gift from her people.

“Wasn’t talking” he kept smirking, his back against his girlfriend’s,  Christine busy calculating all the possible extraction points and such.  Falling into the usual banter was easy and definitely the contrary of boring: had he really been dating someone else besides this very woman?

Right. She was married  back then.

“Meh, I’m a telepath. With people like us, it’s a real as it gets”  their hands touched, the ghost, the shadow of an actual touch, breaking momently the battle. But it was just that, a moment, and while she concentrated on finding a way telepathy could hurt those creatures, one of them, white, tall, like a kind or an emperor,  she saw  their planes for the baby’s - the world, destroyed in an ocean of fire, with the werewolves as only ruler, humanity defeated once and for all, and then, him, on the throne, the child, not a child any longer but Rahne’s child nevertheless.

Half God, half mutant, fully destroyer.

Her hold on Pete’s got stronger and stronger, until it wasn’t just their bodies keeping them together, but their minds as well, and that was when he saw it, what she had tried to keep him safe from.

He didn’t hold back any longer, not with so much at stake.
