They can't do it because they don't see it as important.
I studied all this in Community and Family Studies last year, and its really interesting. They complain that they can't get jobs, but the problem is, they can't get jobs because they don't value education. And they don't value education because their parents didn't. They've seen what their parents have done, and that is to live off Centrelink. Its just a circle that goes around and around and around, and they really can't break it.
Its stupid to us, and we can't fathom why they just can't do it. But its harder for them than you think. If you've been stuck in this cycle for the past three or four generations, then why break it? They survived, so why can't I is their attitude.
That is interesting, because it's like us really. We're stuck in a cycle of believing we can't succeed in life without going to uni - when that, just like education not being in any way important, is a lie. We can succeed in life without it...
