What's going on here?

Did anyone else hear of this new-ish law, where your not allowed to call your children any names that might give confusion of their Gender ( Read more... )

I heard about this law. A couple of Russian origin wanted to name their son Nikita, that is boy's name in Russia. But the official said it was name for girl, and as they didn't want to claim to the court or something, they named their son Nicolai-Nikita.
BTW, Sasha is name for girls in Russia too, and it seems there are now more Sashas girls then boys lol.

I say - if its a boy's name in someone's culture and country, don't mess with it. They should just stop people calling their kids like 'Stalin' and weird things like that.

Sasha, is a girls name to? WOAH! Because I adore that name.
That and some others, if I have my way lol.

I think 'Luca' is totally a boy's name.

Personally, I haven't met a female luca yet lol.

Oh well about the Sasha thing its also a nice way to call the Alexandra's in russia (source: my russian teacher lol!) so i guess you have some hope there and yeah that law is totally stupid...

I love both names lol. Even though I'm going to be a bit different.
But my son will definalty have the name Alexander.

Being part Russian, I just have to pay tribute to it lol.
